The Mach Loop (also known as the Machynlleth Loop) is a series of valleys in the United Kingdom in west-central Wales, notable for their use as low-level training areas for fast aircraft. The system of valleys lies 13Â km (8Â mi) east of Barmouth between the towns of Dolgellau to the north and Machynlleth to the south, from the latter of which it takes its name. The training area is part of the United Kingdom Low Flying System and lies within Low Flying Area 7 (LFA7), which covers most of Wales.
Aircraft seen in the area include Royal Air Force Airbus A400M, Typhoon, Hawk jets and C-130J Super Hercules and Short Tucano as well as U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagles and F-15E Strike Eagles which are based at RAF Lakenheath and MC-130 and V-22 Osprey from RAF Mildenhall. Aircraft from other European nations have been sighted training in the Mach Loop, such as F-16 Fighting Falcons of the Belgian Air Component.
Cad east. Good car parking, nice steep walk, epic views northwards of most of Snowdonia. Had a lie in and managed to just miss the last C130 pass of the day by 5 minutes. Of course. Still an epic place. Will go again next time we're in Wales but with an earlier start :-)

Me and my g.f stayed in a log cabbin in corris near the mach loop for 3 days.. the first day it never stopped raining.. day 2 we where sat on the balcony in the afternoon and before long we heard jet noise and started to get excited then next min 2 f15s went straight over the cabbin low.. OH MY GOD what a sight...This place is just trully AMAZING it really is.. we seen a few more jets on day 3..we are going back to the cabbin in june.. fingers crossed for more action. It is hit and miss if you see anything all id say is dont go at the weekend as they dont fly unless a airshow is taking place somewhere.. everybody should see this but patience is the key. Been here many times, it's a great place to go if you like fighter planes, but make sure you take clothing to keep you warm if the weather not to good, and plenty of food and drinks for the day, and don't forget your camera, 😎

Cad West. Lucky with the weather and amount of traffic going through. Mainly American & the odd Valley Hawk. Easy climb up from the car park, worst part of the path is at the style leaving the car park. Path is eroded heavily.

Stunning absolutely stunning it's worth the climb to the top just for the view without the planes.

Great place if weather is on your side, look online for the time table. Steep to climb and parking gets full.
