Loved the experience. The narration was done well. Well stocked, and not over the top price. The place where it is situated is extremely beautiful. Should definitely visit.
Great snapshot of the history of clog making with some super detailed examples to see and a live demonstration. Huge selection of clogs and wooden gifts for purchase. Its part of the larger complex of Zans museum which on the whole is pretty cool, if not a bit touristy.
Pretty amazing when you see that this people are making and wearing WOODEN SHOES ! Very nice place. People are good. Good - 1. Tradition and culture 2. Occasion specific shoe range 3. Natural product 4. Colourful 5. Perfection in work Bad - 1. I didn't buy any pair !!
The colors were really vibrant. My eyes were filled with the pleasure of seeing so many together. Very chilly winds in the area, the people and environment inside was contrastingly warm..
We loved watching the mini-documentry and then seeing actual demonstrations on how to make traditional wooden clogs. And, believe it or not, clogs are relatively comfy, we bought two pairs! Observe my super cute hubby trying a pair on...
Coolest place, they make wooden shoes right in front of you! You can buy the shoes too. The painted ones are lovely, but very expensive (80) wooden ones are cheaper and more commonly worn. The old shoes on display are very cool to look at. Highly recommend. Make sure, when in the area, to go to the cocaolab.
Absolutely lovely place to visit. The owner of the place, Bart, is a real entertainer. He have a very comprehensive and descriptive narration of the history of clogs and how they are made. They actually demonstrate how a block of wood is transformed in to a Clog. Hard to believe that the machines are from 50 yrs back. You can also show for Clog related souvenirs including actually usable clogs, key chains, minute replica clogs among other stuff. They also have bathroom which is accessible on giving €0.50. You can also purchase a variety of soft drinks and beer. A must visit
So awesome! There is a great tattooed clog man who is so friendly and funny. We took a great picture with him! This place is a great spot to check out if you make it up here. Only a 20 minute train ride from Amsterdam Central. Train comes twice an hour (at the 31 and 01 for arrival and 29 and 59 for leaving). Amazing place in general! Pics are from the whole area in general.
