lovely play area for kids, BMX park good for bikes, lots of geese swans and dukes on the lake, all it needs now is a paddling pool .🙂
Nice park most days but as with a lot of places in Derby, there is a bit of a litter problem. The lake would be so much nicer if there weren't empty cans and bottles floating around..
Alvaston Park has everything you would want for local park. Kids play area, lake, football fields and grassy relaxing areas. There is even a small tearooms and toilets.
easier to get to..kids begs me to take them there to play..I love the beautiful lake...with ducks..nyc cool breeze with benches to relax ..cafe.. ^free parking..lovely place to be..makes me feel refreshed after along day shift...
Nice public park. Great for bmx fans and skateboarders alike.
Great family fun river park and pond BMX track enough to keep the family busy a few hours
Nice setting, with mature trees and lake. Good cycling routes through and around park. Can be visited by yobs, drunks and druggies on occasion, but generally a nice place to be.
Several fields with football goal posts, a play area, tennis courts, basketball hoops, a leisure centre and a lake full of ducks. Great for regular dog walks. Some people have reported 'trouble' here but I've never experienced any, even with the occasional late night walk. The park is generally well maintained but as with any public place some ***** think it's fine to throw litter.
No charge for parking, great kids park. Green fields. Cafe ( ices/drinks) . Avoid at weekends with the soccer kids& swearing.
This is such a good place for a picnic, a stroll through the park, sports or cycling!
Very nice park kids play area fishing lake cafe and good if you play pokemon go good nest and ex raid pass
Nice park to take kids have lake behind the park with lots of swan, duck etc in it you can take bird food for them and can feed them
One of many pleasant green spaces in Derby. Car parking available, tea room, BMX track, playground and lots of open space. Plenty of wildlife on the lake to sit and watch too
Alvaston park is a great place to go with the family in the delight of day!! But stay away in the evenings, as you can guarantee their will be yobs hanging about in groups. And boy races in the car park. And kids smoking drugs. And the police are never there!! Not a nice place to be in the evenings!! So parents beware!
Lovely to walk around the Lake and feed the ducks and take in the views.
Lovely park to walk around very well kept. Granddaughter loved playing on the park.
My dogs have a great time here. I literally found this place, by accident /fluke. But it is now one of my favourite places to visit. There is something for everyone. Large playing fields if there's a large group of you. Or if you just want a quick kick about with the kids. There is cafe which serves hot / cold drinks. Some hot snacks. Sandwiches, cake and ice-cream/lollies. You can eat inside or they have a few tables outside. Also they kindly put out water for visiting Doggies. There are toilets literally next door. The lake is beautiful and is home to numerous water birds. Swans, Mallards, Coors, Canadian Geese. The lake is full of fish and fishing is allowed with the correct permits and set times. There is a great path all around the lake which is excellent for wheelchair users. There is also benches and seating all around. So if you need a breather or just want to watch the lake and it's inhabitants. There is plenty of land and paths to explore around and about the lake. There is also a cycle path. Situated just next to the lake is a wonderful children's play area. With slides, swings and rockers galore. The actual play area is sand. There is also a large wooden gazebo style structure. With seating built around the inside. Perfect for shaded play or escape from a passing shower. To access the park you drive into the structure then drive along a narrow lane. There is skate park situated here and some parking. If you don't fancy the walk, you can follow the lane around. Which brings you to a large parking structure. There are lots of room and also adequate number of disable parking bays. I think the building is a sports centre or sports club. This is also where the cafe and toilets are located. Don't forget to bring some oats, corn, lentils for feeding the birds. Less mess and healthier for them. Enjoy.
