The Water Mill Barn cafe has been taken over by the National Trust and the cream teas are not as good anymore. Prior to National Trust takeover, there was lashings of cream & jam. Sadly not any more. Instead a pot of National Trust jam and pot of Rodda cream. Lovely surroundings though.

Beautiful watermill great to see it working and learning about the history from the knowledgeable staff on hand. Great selection of flour and muesli to buy made in the mill also a good selection of old tools and items in the mill building well worth a visit along with the fantastic castle

Great castle and much to see in it and the mill house! My favourite part was the banister on the main staircase--it was all carved and portrayed a deer hunt in the woods with hounds at the bottom and middle, and the deer at the top of the stairs. Beatiful!

Wonderful interlude to our visit to the castle. A volunteer kindly explained the workings to us and told us stories about the mill. Great!

Fascinating explanation of process given by knowledgeable local guide. Sad to hear that the wheat is imported from abroad and not locally grown.

Great National Trust site with lots to see and do. Currently lots of improvement work going on too, so worth another visit if we are nearby. Mill is currently active on 1st Wednesday of each month, but you can still go around it on any day - and buy some flour!

Warm welcome, to a lovely castle. We went expecting to be there a couple of hours stayed 6. Loved the gardens, and the castle. Made sure to see servants quarters and the kitchens

Interesting visit but worth noting that to get to the water mill you have to pay to get into the castle, you can't just visit the water mill.
