Preston Hall is an early 19th century mansion house at Preston-on-Tees, Stockton-on-Tees, England. It has been a museum since 1953 and is owned by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. It is a listed building. The house stands in 100 acres (0.40Â km2) of parkland. The grounds of the house form Preston Park.
The manor of Preston on Tees was held in 1515 by William Sayer but was lost when the estates of Lawrence Sayer, who was a Royalist during the English Civil War, were sequestered and sold by the Commonwealth of England. In 1673 the manor was purchased by George Witham and during the residency of the Witham family the manor house was known as Witham Hall. In 1722 William Witham sold the estate to Sir John Eden Bt of Windlestone Hall and in 1820 it was sold again to David Burton Fowler.
A great place to take children, there's a playground with all the usual slides and swings , a large climbing frame, and sandpit for the smaller kids. There's a skateboard track and scooter park so the kids can demonstrate their skills. They have boats on the river, an old world museum with outside street with shops etc. And a large butterfly world!!

On a nice day this is as nice as any park you could visit. Lovely for a walk, great for kids with a mix of attractions such as butterfly world and a play area. Certainly would recommend for a family day out or just a nice walk. Does get busy in the summer of course as such places are rare in these parts.

Preston park is great for a lovely day out as there is so many things to do especially in summer time. Exploring the museum which is really good value. £5 for a family ticket which lasts all year. The butterfly world is a must when you visit which is full of beautiful butterflies. Also there is a river trip on the boat which takes you to yarm.

Lovely place to visit and great value for money. Food facilities could be better think it could really add to this place. Great play area for kids and a nice traditional street with different activities going on throughout.

Really interesting! Lots to see and do. Very reasonable entrance cost and valid for a whole year. Staff really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

What a great time we had here! Plenty to see and do for all ages. Especially enjoyed the period characters and all the info about the history. Ideal for not so good weather and great that Butterfly World is only next door. Had to pay once for a yearly pass! Great value. Will absolutely be going again and again. Thanks.

This is one of our local parks and it's changed recently. Give is the old SECURED play area that I felt allowed y children free reign when they were younger. Instead, the open play area was renovated and although it's great for children who are a little older, it's not great for toddlers. The skate park is good fun for every age group and wet love walks by the river and through Quarry Woods. The museum shears had something on during school holidays too. Something for everyone!

The facilities Preston hall has to offer are really under rated. Set in the idilic grounds of Preston park, with free parking, play area, skate park, cafe and more! Lots of events all year round, you can take a trip down the river or take a walk around the woodlands. The toilets really need upgrading but they function as they should so i dont let that take away from my opinion of the place. The museum has both indoor and outdoor exhibits, has a functioning traditional sweet shop and blacksmiths. They sometimes have activities available during school holidays. The gardens are worth a visit too. I married here in September 2017 which is also highly recommended if you are looking for somewhere special and you're on a budget it costs a lot less than you would think! Getting married somewhere is beautiful as Preston hall made the day all the more special. I really can't recommend this place more well worth a visit!

A great placs to visit and spend any amount of time. The offer is of course local history which includes Stockton's key role in the development of passenger railways and the breadth of its industrial and cultural heritage. There is a balance of interactive and more traditional exhibits to tell the storey. The lovely parkland setting and proximity to the river ensure that there is something for everyone.

Had a look around the house and exhibits, the kitchen gardens. there was an additional exhibit, 100 years of the RAF, which was very interesting. lovely walk along the river and through the woods and the children had a great time in the adventure playground. also visited the butterfly world. lovely day and well worth a visit to Preston Park House, museum and Butterfly World.

Visited on Sunday. A beautiful warm day and a perfect riverside walk. The park attractions looked rather neglected and run down. I think this place needs a lot of serious investment to bring it back to the standard it used to be 10 years or so ago. Enjoyed a coffee and perfectly baked victoria sponge with my daughter. The enclosure that used to hold the beautiful peacocks was empty and seriously overgrown with weeds. It looked abandoned and attracted young teenagers upstairs in groups. Why not at least weed it and clear it for a bit of tidyness. This seriously let down the whole park

A place that I've always enjoyed coming to, portraying local history. Entry is very cheap and lasts the entire year. But I hope that they'd put the money towards fixing some of their interactive exhibits. There is also an old historical street out the back of the museum, showing old businesses and how they used to live. Certainly appealing to children. With some better maintenance, I would hapilly rate this museum a 5-star.

Here for the fire engine rally, wonderful place to visit! The staff in the museum are lovely and more than willing to give you an insight into the strange history of the park. The old street was my favourite part of it all - there are an array of different stores which look like they were straight out of the Victorian time; police station, sweety shop, chemist, funeral directors, blacksmiths etc - very cool. They also have staff dressed in the appropriate gear for their shops which are pretty cool. Would definitely recommend

I've not been for a few years so big surprise when we took grand kids there for the day. Didn't want to come home. So much to see and do. Downside was I left my phone in the toilet, it was handed in so I got it back. Two gift cards missing when I got home. Hope whoever found them enjoyed spending them.

Always love a visit here, I have been to their open air theatre too! You can’t beat their kids play area it’s one of the best in the area. The walks are a bit rough as they are only partly paved but the museum and gardens are fantastic. Entry is so cheap and tickets last a year I would pay double for the great experiences I’ve had here. It’s been a staple visit for all children in Teesside for as long as I can remember and my kids now love it too!

Period property and very nice museum. Majestic grounds and river tees in the background! Very beautiful! Highly Recommended! Also don’t forget to visit butterfly world.
