The Linlithgow Union Canal Society is a waterway society and a Scottish registered charity based at Linlithgow Canal Centre on the Union Canal at Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland. Also known as "LUCS", it was founded in 1975 by Melville Gray to "promote and encourage the restoration and use of the Union Canal, particularly in the vicinity of Linlithgow".
From 1970, Mel Gray had started to clear the towpath with the help of boys from HMYOI Polmont, a Young Offenders Institution. This was followed by the first boaters' Rally at Linlithgow Canal Centre, organised by the Scottish Inland Waterways Association and the Scottish Civic Trust in 1972. In 1975 the Society acquired an old dredger from the (then) British Waterways Board, now Scottish Canals.
A nice afternoon out. 25 minutes canal trip was just long enough for young kids and cafe offered teas coffees and nice selection of cakes. Also ice-cream at very reasonable prices. Didn't get time to visit the museum this time. Recommended.

The short town tour is really nice. We had Ronnie to tell to us everything about the boat we were on and to share a bit of the canal's history

Friendly informative fun guide. Beautiful site. Great wee museum. Cafe looked lovely although didn't have time to go in. Loved the wee barge trip. Guide gave history of area during it. Highly recommended

Went on a canal cruise along the Union Canal on Saturday with a group I volunteer with. (We did the 2 1/2 hour cruise over the Avon aqueduct) We’ve done a few different local bus and boat tours together, but this was a completely different experience. It offered a much slower, relaxed pace to enjoy the scenery. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend 👍 (Blue skies not guaranteed)

Lovely and peaceful few hours floating along the Union Canal. Great view from the aqueduct and a very welcome cup of tea on the way back.
