A picturesque park in central Edinburgh. Located right below the castle, it’s a nice walk (or hike if you go up the hill). There’s an amphitheater where you might catch an event, plenty of statues, along with cafes and restaurants.

Princes street gardens is a must visit at Christmas, there is so much happening and looks magical with the Christmas market. There is something here for everyone and every age. The kids will love the fun fair with all the rides and and decorations. And adults will enjoy all the Christmas market stalls. There is so much to try in different foods and drinks. The gardens are beautifully lite up at night with all the Christmas lights and rides.

Had a couple of alfresco drinks during the run up to Christmas with colleagues from work. Great atmosphere and lots of festive stalls and eating / drinking outlets to check out. Fab.

This is a beautiful park & I can only imagine how much more beautiful it is in the summer when it is in full bloom. It is a nice park to have a stroll around or sit & relax for a while. I am looking forward to visiting again in the summer to see it in full bloom.

We were here for the Christmas Market, but whether you are here summer or winter, it's a very beautiful bit of Edinburgh (with a very good view of the castle). The Christmas Market itself takes up a big part of the Gardens now, and at the bottom you find Santa Land with lots of different rides for kids in all ages. In summer it's a good park for a bit of relaxation. We could let the bairns run wild for a bit on the grass last time. A lot of people also just come to lie on a blanket and read a book as well as - believe it or not - tan.

I enjoy even just cutting through the gardens. It takes you away from the hustle and bustle of town. It's generally less busy then the main street. If you work in town it can be pleasant (weather permitting) to sit and eat lunch there. There's a great view of the castle. I think the garden's are an absolute asset to the centre of town in Edinburgh. There are several benches and enough rubbish disposal bins. There are also recycling bins available. It's not always difficult to get a seat on a bench as they are plentiful. Although in peak summer, on a nice day with tourists & school summer holidays you may (if possible) want to bring a towel and sit on the grass? Seats can be limited then. As much as the gardens are wheelchair accessable, I think the sloped paths are incredibly steep. If pushing a wheelchair I imagine it could be difficult. In no way am I deterring wheelchair users from accessing the garden's, unless an electric wheelchair it looks as if it'd be a tough job? I've saw wheelchairs in the garden's though so there's possibly another entrance I'm not aware of. There were public toilets. However, as it's been many years since I used them. I honestly can't say if there are public restrooms presently or not unfortunately. The gardens are well kept and it's a phenomenal sun trap. On those few sunny days we get in Edinburgh 😎 There are stunning floral arrangements too on the banks leading down to the garden's. Again impeccably in appearance. Never saw the garden's look even slightly unkempt. I believe access to the Scots monument is via the garden's, or at least you can access it through the garden's. Enjoy! The gardens are great to sit and catch the sun, reading alone or even just grabbing a takeaway coffee/lunch with a friend. I think while sitting on the benches with your back facing prince's st and facing the castle helps in making it pleasant. DON'T FORGET about the 1pm gun! I consistently do, and make a fool of myself jumping out of my skin!

Were here last Saturday (day of the Royal wedding, but not for that 😄). Day was an absolute scorcher, there were free deck chairs to use, place was packed with people just enjoying the rare Scottish sun, but everything was calm and subdued, just a bunch of folks all there to have a nice day. There's a wee play park for the kids, there was a pop up place that sold hot food as well and ice cream, drinks and the likes. People had brought in wine and beers and stuff but no one was over the top or being bothersome. Perfect place to just while away a few hours and make the most of the nice weather.

Fantastic park right in the heart of Edinburgh, right next to Waverley train station so perfect place to sit if you've got to wait for your train. Lots of benches and a cafe, go and do some people watching! Go to the other side of the railway tracks for a wildlife space away from the more formal gardens and you can use it as a route to get to the old town.

As the name says, a garden. Lots of flowers and other plants. A lovely park, even quite quiet, "in the shadows" of the Edinburgh castle. Great for gathering with friends. A lot to see. A paradise middle of a lively city centre.

A really beautiful place. Free entry. Sadly there's only one block of toilets now! Beautiful floral display and the overall park is very well maintained. Often lots of free events going on down there, and you can take a switchback path up the hill to get to the top of the Royal Mile.
