The Eger Castle (Hungarian: Egri vár) is a castle in Eger, Hungary. Historically, it is known for repelling the Turkish attack in 1552 during the Siege of Eger.
The first castle was built on the high hill named Várhegy at Felsőtárkány near Eger.
The square is lovely with a nice view and a pleasant atmosphere. For food I recommend HBH Restaurant with the best beer in town, and for the best fish soup I recommend Forst-Haz Restaurant.

Nice plaza but not very well maintained. The river channel beside the plaza is quite dirty. It's not very exciting because there isn't much going on and not many shops spilling onto the plaza - maybe it's just because it's not the right season

Amazing place with so much history. It is fantastic, sitting down on a bench, looking around you can kinda feel the history. Kinda like when past and present meets right in front of you.

Lovely place, splendid buildings and architecture. Although the new "fountain" is a bit of a shame on Eger.

Hungarian history in this charming medieval town with castle and quaint streets off the beaten path which makes it a place to see.

Beautiful, historical place just under the Eger Castle, where music festivals takes place during the summer. There are restaurants, bars and shops. Highly recommended to visit Eger, Dobo Square & Castle !
