This museum is excellent and has pretty amazing things inside such as the original doors to paradise, pieta by Michelangelo, etc.. The museum is spread out over several floors which can be accessed via lift or stairs. It recently underwent some renovation so is it was really a pleasure to visit. Make sure you book a combo ticket online in advanve which includes this museum, the Bell Tower, the dome and gives you quick entrance.

Totally love it, the museum has a very large collection and many exhibits are very interesting, and it has a very detailed history of the church, it is very informative. Especially the first three sketchs of the churches are very interesting. The church is just a masterpiece, a great art work in the history of architecture. I recommend everyone to go inside.

Finally an up to date museum experience in Florence. Not over huge. Amazing layout. Vastly informative. Money very well spent.

This place always has the shortest line out of all the monuments in Piazza del Duomo. It is not usually crowded. You use the same ticket for the other monuments in Piazza del Duomo. The real doors of the Baptistery are displayed here. There are many items displayed here on several floors. Definitely come here if you have extra time in Florence.

Go here and see the actual Ghiberti doors. I only had time to see some of the main bits of this museum but it was well worth it. So many tourists scramble to take photos of the replica doors at the Baptistry but this museum has the originals and is much less crowded. Obviously there are other lovely pieces here too.

Seeing the queues for the cathedral we went in the museum. Very interesting collection of all the best cathedral features presented in an excellent new building. The building adds to the experience. Very helpful app too.

We read somewhere that this is the largest collection of religious art outside of the Vatican and I believe it. Wonderful museum and most information plaques were in English as well as Italian. I was a bit disappointed with the inside of the cathedral but the crypt and museum were worth the price of entry.

Security at the second floor followed us all the floor. I would understand if there were small things in case we “steal” but everything was covered with glass and big. I think it was just his pride since he is a very important “security”

Gorgeous museum, definitely a must see. Lots of statues by Donatello, original models of the dome and facade. An unfinished Pieta by Michelangelo. Loved it.

Heavenly gates created in the 1400's when perspective was just beginning to be applied to art. Thrilling to see the original Gates of Paradise by Ghibertti

Amazing museum!! They have taken many original works from the Duomo inside the museum to preserve and allow people to view them up close. Lots more to see too! Definitely go here!

My favourite museum in Florence. Loved to see the stunning Mary Magdelene again after 48 years. This museum is in a stunning building.

It's just amazing and explains the cathedral construction. It has all the original statues and the original doors. It has also a rooftop with a good view to the cathedral's domo that I really recommend to take a look. You can but the tickets for the cathedral, baptistery and the Domo there with no lines.

Ghiberti doors for the baptistry. Gates of paradise. Bronze. Absolutely unbelievable. We're getting one for home. Excellent museum. Nice well-displayed selection of pieces.

This is the best place to see work by Donatello. So unique! The room devoted to Hairy Mary is bizarre. If you want to touch the mystery of this woman, start here. The same room that houses the remake of Donatello’s statue (so revenants can touch her!) also houses the jaw bone of St. John the Baptist. Yep.

Really great museum full of information. There were English translations of almost everything which made the collection a lot more accessible. Also nice that they provided free luggage compartments at the entrance. The downside is that I feel that some information is missing, for instance why was the cathedral façade never finished? Would also be nice to include more of the competition between the different artists with some more background.

A very well done and modern museum, I was quite impressed. It complemented my visit to the Duomo nicely. The short films on the building of the dome and the original facade are fascinating and worth your time. Also contains an interesting collection of religious artifacts, including supposed bones of saints. Do not skip this one. It's well designed and informed.

Totally cool museum. Not too crowded. Awesome views of Duomo from location right next to it. Loved it!

It's worth visiting. New museum, everything well displayed, spacious rooms, lots of very interesting, staple art/architecture pieces. Also surprisingly not that crowded

Absolutely loved this museum. It's got amazing variety of sculpture and architecture and is the best designed and best lit museum in Florence. It also has Michelangelo's final Pieta (not the one in the Vatican; this one was made at the very end of his life). This is my favorite work by Michelangelo and was the most impactful single artwork I saw in all of Italy. This piece alone makes the museum a must-see.

We purchased the 18€ ticket from the Duomo ticket office, which included this museum as one of its inclusions. I'm glad we stopped in here. It has wonderful art, but it also has very informative exhibits regarding the construction of the dome. I found myself in awe of the beauty and craftsmanship of the statues, as well as the door panels. And I enjoyed learning about the methods used to place each stone on the massive cathedral outside.

This is great museum with a fairly new makeover and some truly great works of art by the big Renaissance greats such as Michelangelo, Donatello and Ghiberti. The star of the show I'd Brunelleschi's done with great models and an informative video. Definitely worth a visit AND a great cafeteria in the square outside.
