The Palazzo Pitti (Italian pronunciation: [paˈlattso ˈpitti]), in English sometimes called the Pitti Palace, is a vast, mainly Renaissance, palace in Florence, Italy. It is situated on the south side of the River Arno, a short distance from the Ponte Vecchio. The core of the present palazzo dates from 1458 and was originally the town residence of Luca Pitti, an ambitious Florentine banker.
The palace was bought by the Medici family in 1549 and became the chief residence of the ruling families of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. It grew as a great treasure house as later generations amassed paintings, plates, jewelry and luxurious possessions.
Enormous quantity of great art. The Paintings by Raphael were astounding. I loved it. A nice nut a little pricey cafe in the basement

Words can't describe the feeling! Children under 17 are free adults start at €4. The garden is beautiful, the status are awesome! The views of the city are beautiful from the top! Definitely worth the money and the time!

The gardens are nice but wasn't especially fond of the museum. Paintings are often badly lit by glaring lights or under lit. Do your research to decide if this is the sort of art you want to see. Frankly, I found most of it very boring and there is a *a lot* of it. My fault for not doing enough research before waiting an hour for a ticket. One of the highlights for me were were these peculiar abstract ivory things (just search of "Pitti ivory things") which impossibly intricately made. They aren't very pretty, TBH, but they're amazing.

Good gardens, great view, but very rude staff. I'm glad they're not representative of all Italians. First the lady at the till demanded an ID card without many pleasantries. We had misread the sign that said that free student entry was for students in Italian universities studying archeology. Instead of explaining us this in a calm manner, the lady at the till started cursing at us in Italian. At the end of our exchange she shooed us off with the respective hand motion. All in all, she appeared utterly annoyed that she had to serve customers.

Saw the gardens only. Beautiful and massive. Takes 2-3 hours to explore fully. Great views of the city. Beautify architecture and pruning. All worth the time and money.

Beautiful place for pictures. If you're visiting Florence, this is a must! Great view of the Duomo and beautiful gardens. I just got a ticket for the gardens (I believe it was 8€) and it was well worth it! I spent hours here. Looking forward to going back and viewing more of this place.

The amount of art on display here is unbelievable. Must be one of the largest museums I've ever been in. Impossible to take it all in. Especially enjoyed the costume gallery. Also great views of Florence. Cafe very expensive.

It was nice to see what is/was real welth, how small all we are and how powerful they were. Millions or billions in art kept in one place. It is really worth to see! (without garden)

This place doesn’t need any special introduction. It’s really impressive and fascinating. The building is huge, with rich and very interesting history which can be felt in every stone. This is also the largest museum in Florence. Surprisingly, it’s not overcrowded (we were there in the beginning of March) despite it’s in a walking distance from always busy Ponte Vecchio.

We went on the first Sunday of the month. Queues were long as entrance was free. Very efficient staff and we did not have to stand long. The Royal chambers was spectacular with breathtaking frescoes and paintings. The clothing museum less interesting as no replicas of De Medici time gowns. The silver museum has very old an unusual treasures.
Maretha LaubscherMay 8, 2018
Just walking the Boboli gardens and imagining the Medici's having garden parties and games was worth the cost of admittance. The gardens were a nice relaxing walk although a bit of a hike to the top. The Pitti Palace was huge. It was great reading about what each room was used for as you toured the museum.

Inside the Pitti Palace there are 4different museums that can be visited with one single ticket. All the museum are very nice but Galleria Palatina is incredible. There are so many wonderful painting that I can stay there forever.

It's huge and really beautiful. The Palace has a lot of museums, with a lot is amazing masterpieces. Also has an incredible garden.

My first time visiting Pitti Palace. it's very beautiful, both the building and the garden and of course the paintings. They offer 3 ticket options. they have a separate fee for the museum and the garden or both. We got the entry for the museum and wow they had hella. We didn't have time to see it all because we had a limited time to see Florence but if u do decide to visit plan for a full or half a day. I did wish we had time to see the garden. I like paintings but the garden too was really nice. €16 for the museum when we visited (April 2018)

Expensive to get in which is why it loses one star. Lovely on the inside though and an overwhelming amount of art inside. It's a spectacular place and isn't as busy as the other big attractions. It has a nice courtyard to relax in and a small cafe. It's free if you're a student of certain subjects.

Amazing! Liked this way more than the Uffizi! Great art works in a stunning palatial setting. Fewer tourists so you don't have to fight your way through to see a piece. So good to see people actually looking at the works rather than just taking pictures for their social media pages!

Put this on your don't miss list! Was one of our favorite places on the Firenze Pass. Awesome and take your time - there's a lot to see. Leave time for the Boboli Gardens - it's well worth the break from all the artwork.

Not knowing much about art or history it did seem rather generic. It would have been helpful if there were audio or tour guides. There are some wonderful art displays and paintings. You can get different types of tickets. One for the art exhibits, one for the gardens or a combined ticket. There is reduced entry after a certain time (I think 4pm)

We enjoyed visiting the Pallazo Pitti museum and especially that you get half price if you purchase and enter before 9am. However, I was really disappointed that the costume gallery was closed! I checked the website before and there was no indication there or outside the museum- the signs still led us to the part of the museum where it usually is, and it was only when we arrived at that section that we saw the sign showing that the costume gallery is currently closed. Definitely should have been clear outside the museum before people purchased tickets. Other than that it was very interesting.
Sarah BuitendagJul 3, 2018
Outstanding museum filled with a wealth of paintings, decorations, sculptures and other items of interest. Honestly we couldn't understand why we didn't have to wait for hours to get in like some of the other sites. The Pitti Palace was a highlight of the time in Florence. Don't miss out.

Plan to go here on the first Sunday of the month for FREE entry! Amazing collection of art, fashion and Medici period interiors. The adjoining garden is very well maintained and offers good views.

Fantastic museum. Pitti was an ambitious Florentine, with plans that went ahead of his emans. The palace was bought by Medici in 1549 and became the chief residence. A true treasure house, with beautiful art. Get in before 9am, and your tickets are half off.
