Piazza della Signoria (Italian pronunciation: [ˈpjattsa della siɲɲoˈriːa]) is a w-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. It was named after the Palazzo della Signoria, also called Palazzo Vecchio. It is the main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic and still maintains its reputation as the political focus of the city. It is the meeting place of Florentines as well as the numerous tourists, located near Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza del Duomo and gateway to Uffizi Gallery.
The impressive 14th-century Palazzo Vecchio is still preeminent with its crenellated tower. The square is also shared with the Loggia della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Palace of the Tribunale della Mercanzia (1359) (now the Bureau of Agriculture), and the Palazzo Uguccioni (1550, with a facade attributed to Raphael, who however died thirty years before its construction). Located in front of the Palazzo Vecchio is the Palace of the Assicurazioni Generali (1871, built in Renaissance style).

Lots to see and several good places to eat. Watch out for the pick pockets all through Florence. They try to give you candy as they go for your pockets. I didn't remove my hand from the camera I had in my jacket pocket and the guy still tried to put his hand in to take it. I felt like kicking his you know what but he wasn't worth the time. Be very aware when in this town.

One of the many piazzas in Italy, but nice to take some Instagram shots. Always a nice stroll is good

Beautiful square where you can see a replica of the David. But this is only a much smaller replica of the real one. If you want to see the real one you have to go to Galleria dell’Accademia. This place can very crowded but then again so is most of the touristic Florenz. ;)

Great walking city. Get a room downtown, walk to everything. Don't rent a car until you are out of city. Very small streets.

Visited December, 2015. Nice little piazza with some highly entertaining statues to get a feel for the great history engrained in Florence. Look out for the street entertainers though posing as statues, watch them for too long or try to snag a picture and they'll wave you down for a tip!

Loved this plaza! The layout allows lots of people to walk around comfortably to look at the replicas of famous artworks outside! There are many nearby gelateries and good restaurants too. There is also a street musician once in a while! 👍

Although I give 5 stars, I must to question the decision of whomever thought of placing a huge 'modern artist's work (shaped like a turd)' at piazza's center among the most magnificent sculptures and great architecture in history, was a good idea. It creates a disharmony and discomfort for visitors. A horrible decision.

Very lovely square. People are lurking around to see the masterpieces of reneusance. You will be there when you see the replica of David statue. You can't miss it.

Beautiful piazza! With many great statues. Sadly these days (last days on April) the famous fountain was closed for conversation reason.

Big place with horse driven carriages and magnificent statues in one corner. High Street shops all around it and lots of gelato shops all offering tempting stuff good for a hot summer day.

Stunning gallery and surrounded in rich architecture and history... queues should be expected to enter so would suggest arriving early to avoid a long wait.

It's Florence, so almost any piazza is fun. But Signoria is more crowds gawking at the outdoor copy of Michaelangelo's David - and many other statues - than it is of higher interest or entertainment. We liked the diverse crowds, but only as an average scene of global people being people in large numbers.

Good place to spend time just walking around. There are alot of shops, cafes and restaurants. Alot of people or tourist because it is one of the famous Piazzas but it's part of the fun in visiting these places. Florence is still one of the best places in Italy!

Simple stunning. Gets busy but don't let that put you off. Also a good choice of cafes around the Piazza. Loved it.

Fountain of Neptune is covered and behind scaffolding now and not viewable right now - possibly being renovated. But all the other sculptures and statues are there in all their glory. A must visit. The real statue of David is in a nearby University.

Get your camera out! Excellent place for pics with the statue of David. Take a break and sit for a while to people watch. Be sure to come back at night when the lights make it spectacular.

Remarkable statues, a townsquare dominated by tourists; for all the right reasons. Restaurants, cafés, statues and a great atmosphere. A place you should not miss in your stay in Florence.

Absolutely a must see. Florence is the most amazing city with an unbelievable amount of sculpture and history everywhere you look. Enjoy a night time concert and bring some wine, cheese. and bread. If you get the chance, the flea market is where you will find everything you need at crazy prices. The food is great, and of course, the incredible wines speak for themselves.

This is the main square in the city of Florence....their city hall. There are some cool sites to see, replicas of statues, etc. There are also lots of restaurants to sit and relax, although they can be pricey because of their location. This is also where you would pick up your Firenzia card, which is highly recommended as it includes unlimited attraction passes in Florence + access to public transportation service.

One of many places to take a shot in Florence It's lively and elegant and surrounded by beautiful building's elements. Crown people here sometimes, beware your belonging all the time. Anyway it's worth to walk around, atmosphere and surroundings are lovely.

Beautiful place! There's sometimes live music (classic music) at night. It offers also a few places to have a drink or eat during the day and close around 7-8pm
