Pedro St. James, Pedro St. James Castle, or Pedro's Castle is the oldest existing stone building in the Cayman Islands.
Pedro St. James was built in 1780 by an Englishman named William Eden. Although it is not known why and how Eden came to Cayman, he became sufficiently prosperous for his small land holding near Spotts to be marked on the first map of Grand Cayman in 1773 as Edens. Using slave labour, Eden styled the home as a small scale great house of the kind then found on plantations in Jamaica. The house received its name due to its location along Pedro Point.

Pedro St. James is one of the few historic sites to visit on the island. The restored building is a quick tour, but worth the effort. The visitor center is a nice place to hang out and the bar is really one of the best locations on the island; great view and Cayman Spirits rum. This is a short visit, but a brief history of the island is nice to acquire when visiting and this is the place to get that.

Shore excursion from Georgetown Cayman islands through Regent. First stop was a botanical garden. Very nice. Nearby visit was to Pedro St James. Very knowledgeable guide who is a decendant of the original owner. Nice presentation of the history of the house and land. Saw some birds including the local green parrots.

Wonderful historic site. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure to enjoy the multimedia presentation before visiting the house. The history of Grand Cayman really comes alive. Makes you love this island that much more. Don't miss the rum tasting room. Extra 5 bucks and well worth it.

Awesome space for an event. Kids Park needs upgrade. Ladies bathroom nice but need more light and a baby changing station.

A must see in Grand Cayman. Loved learning about some of the history of the island and also about the oldest remaining standing structure. Rum tasting at the end was fun and a good way of selling souvenirs.
