"I don't know what i was expecting, but it weren't this" - random tourist. Beaches were nice and clean, but the island is just far too crowded. No peace here. Drunkards at night, creating a mess of garbage all around. Drunk people tried to tamper with our rental bikes at night. If u read this long review and still want to go here then my best advice is to stay on the northwest - west side of the island :)
Beautiful beaches, nice snorkelling places. Quite crowded with foreigners and locals. Pubs, bars and clubs at nights. My observation, foods are overpriced here, finding local food a bit though. Beers and spirits cheaper in local shops rather in main street. Dont forget the sunset in the other side of island facing Bali island. Island preservation are needed soon before the corals dies.
It’s an island of life. Lots of things happening at this island and the locals would called it the party island. Custer with lots of bars, restaurants and cafe. Within that there’s of course the warung, hidden in those small alleys. Little market as well, you just have to localise a little to find all this. Interesting experience and the food is really good too! Just really spicy that’s all!
If you are planning a trip to Indonesia then you should have Gili islands on your list. Really calm and peaceful beaches, away from civilization. Gili T is where you should stay and then take ferry to go to Gili m and Gili air. Try water sports- snorkeling and scuba diving. Gili T is your perfect party destination with clubs across the island facing the beautiful beaches. You can reach here by taking a boat from lombok or Bali.
Beach paradise but poor horses! I’m lucky enough to stay at Villa Gili Bali Beach where the owner, Rudy is very friendly and kind to lead us to the local eateries. This island has no motor vehicles around. Thus, mode transport limited to walking, cycling and horse taxi. I witnessed the cruelty treat on the horse taxi as shown in photos. The horse needs to carry heavy goods from a sandy sloppy beach...highly not recommend to take the horse taxi although it costs 150,000rp per way to the west side of beach. Think the horses are not treated well with the hard earn money!!
Bali, Indonesia is my number one holiday pick and Gili Trawangan is cherry on the cake. Gili T is an island which is a beautiful 2 hour boat ride from Bali. The island is a paradise, but now with a lot of tourists coming in it’s becoming crowded and dirty. All commute on the island is by horse cart or bicycle, waters are clean and clear except for the beach ear the main market area. Get a villa near the beach and you will not need anything else, just relax, swim, sunbath and drink.
pretty beach, pretty place, clean fresh air, and clear ocean, also lots of nice people, great foods, great drinks, love this place a lot!! I would visit here over and over again for vacation. best island if you just want to chill and relax. must go here for a party by the beach recommended to ride bike so you can bike while enjoying the view.
Beautiful island and scenery! A must come place if you're at Lombok! Only downside is that the roads will be muddy after rains but overall awesome experience.
Absolutely beautiful beach with clear and calm waters, cool entertaining bars and pubs, snorkeling and diving activities. This is the kind of trip that you can plan alone or with groups, in couple as well. It goes easy on the budget with nice, laid back and easy going vibes..hope the beaches stay the way it is
The best place to travel and forget about everything in the city. The view is amazing, with beautiful beach and white sand. There are a lot of activities to do, from horse riding along the beach, cycling around the island, snorkeling and swimming with turtle at turtle point, and having fresh sea food at night market. Totally recommended.
I've visited this island once. In Gili Trawangan, make sure you go around the island finding the great spots that has no crowd and also find the spot that has perfect water and sand; if you don't do that and just staying in just several place nearby the crowd, you may probably be disappointed. So, let's be slightly tired by going a bit farther around the island to find the perfect spot :). This island is very nice place to unplug yourself and get relax...
Went here last year. Beautiful seascape. Love the beach. Cycling around the island was totally fun thing to do with my friends. Had a good time here.
It such a small island but I really enjoyed my time there. No cars, just horse taxis but everything is also walkable. The beaches are very nice and you can snorkel everywhere to see turtles. So many bars and restaurants so it's hard to choose where to go first. And the night market is wonderful with all local food, fish meat and vegetables it's a very nice vibe there in the evenings.
Nice island, you can party or relax if you want to. The roads are... Not the best so be careful. During rainy season it gets really muddy and slippery. You can walk or bike around. There are also horses but please don't encourage that. They don't treat them well (why I removed one star). Good beaches when you walk about 20 minutes and nice little beach bars. I enjoyed the nightlife there.
