One of Glasgow's very best attractions and a must see for all visitors. It's not far from the centre of town so one suggestion would be to go into the central station (or Queen Street) by train, walk up to Sauchiehall Street, walk out along that street and get lunch at somewhere like The Willow Tea Rooms (think Miss Marple) or a little further out towards the Kelvingrove is Steak Cattle and Roll which is a fine place for a gourmet burger and a beer. Then continue along the same road and enjoy, once over the M8, the fine Georgian white buildings and then the splendor of the Kelvingrove itself. OK, that's quite a walk but very doable. As for the gallery and museum itself, it has many spaces with different exhibitions in each, you can spend many hours there and still not see everything properly. For example you can potentially be there quite a while before you even see the Spitfire hanging from the ceiling. There are fine works of art too, some from world class artists. Just please don't hang around the Constable, I want space around that when I visit so I can just stare at it for ages, go look at the Rubens instead.

I love this place! The building itself is marvelous inside and out, and there are so many interesting things to look at in the museum. I myself am obsessed with dinosaurs, and even though that department isn't huge they have a good specimen collection. The museum is filled with creatures and creations of both nature and man, and it's well worth a visit. 22 galleries to explore, and organ recitals to enjoy (much cooler than it sounds). I also spent too much time in the gift shops, one having surprisingly reasonable prices and amazing items on the shelves. Just make sure you get there in good time to enjoy it all, 5pm approaches way too soon when entering that amazing place.

Love this place! Such a mix of art and history all under one roof. Can easily spend a few hours here with out tiring of the exhibits. Idea for all ages, too. Something for everyone. Will be a must do on my next visit to the big city.

Fabulous museum. No tickets or admission fee, though a £5 donation is requested. I found the French art collection especially delightful, with works from great impressionist painters. The outside of the museum is of course stunning as well. The only thing is I wish it was a bit easier to navigate.

A must on any visit to Glasgow. Such an eclectic collection with an interesting history, so there’s something to please everyone and great for kids too. There are volunteer guides walking around offering free tours which take around an hour which I highly recommend as you get a good sense of the history behind the main pieces. The building itself is magnificent, such an intricate interior.

What an amazing place in the heart of Glasgow. Brilliant building.....lots of interesting items to see...and knowledgeable staff if you need assistance. One visit not enough although being a Glaswegian we are near enough to visit regularly as we have done for years. Lucky us. So much to see...so why not visit regularly if you can? One of Scotland's national treasures and I've been visiting this wonderful place for around 45 years! It used to inspire me as a child and still succeeds in doing the same to this day! A much-loved icon of Glasgow which offers free admission to all. If you haven't been you really must check it out! Great visitor facilities throughout!

Had a great guided tour with David. I really recommend to go on a guided tour to just get an overview about this big museum and to get an idea of where to go and what to see. Other than that - great exhibition, there is something for everyone for sure. And the organ recitals are also worth a visit. It's a must see in glasgow!

A large collection of art on Scotland's history and wildlife and much more! The building is a beautiful piece of architecture (1901). Suitable for children, however, some objects need maintenance, eg when a tool does not work properly. The museum even has different shops with educational material for children and adults. This was my second visit to Kelvingrove. I recommend visiting the museum in the morning to avoid large groups. Also, take a walk through the lovely surrounding park!

Thus museum has so much variety, that you are sure to spend hours wandering through the halls. At 1 pm on a Friday the had an organ player who did a great job playing their fantastic organ, so everyone gathers around the railing, or takes a seat to listen. It was really nice. Great for families and even little kids won't get bored, there is so much to see.

I explored this museum with a friend on my first day in Glasgow. It's about a 35 min walk from the city centre. There is also a subway stop about 10 min walk away. Admission is free. There are exhibits on many different subjects with lots of great artwork. The gallery has made great efforts to be interactive and fun for kids. The park is nice too.

I have loved this museum all my days. Great place to take the kids. So much to see and do and a nice cafe to stop n have a rest. Shame that the interactive pieces are not better maintained and now have to pay for parking but it's not too expensive and worth it.

A great place to explore with the kids. We arrived here after doing a walking murder mystery tour in the local area and had fantastic fun searching for clues inside and outside the building. The exhibits are interesting and varied from Glasgow School artists to animal installations. When we entered the building there was an organ recital in full swing playing James Bond and Star Wars tunes.

A great museum with a wide-ranging collection of different anthropological objects and works of art. There are also activities for children and families. The cafe is also superb and has a nice view. I will definitely return when I am next in Glasgow. I particularly enjoyed the Glasgow Boys’ paintings but the historical exhibits were also well-presented. Accessible and clear captions accompany all exhibits.

Free Gallery, no tickets. It has two sections, one houses art collections from different regions and paintings. Second section houses natural history specimens and collection. In between the two sections is a hall, which houses an Organ. Every sunday at 3pm, Organ is used for melodies, we happened to be at perfect time, listened to it. A lovely experience. Gift shop is amazing with variety of souvenirs. The most amazing thing to see in Kelvingrove is the Floating Heads sculpture, that is hung through sealing, a multitude of white heads with variety of expressions.

What's not to love? Upside: Great selection of art and collectibles some that are unique and may favourite is the Van Gough Paintings. Cafeteria has a great selection of vegetarian options. Stores are reasonably price. 1pm Live Organ show was superb surprise and great amazing experience. Downside: washrooms are in the basement, queue line ups are long.

I have tons of great memories here, there's so much to see if you've never been before, end even if you have, it's such a nice building and setting that it's worth more visits. From the big organ in the main hall to the Spitfire and elephant and so much more, it's definitely a brilliant place to visit.

This art gallery is in a beautiful location with a variety of interesting exhibits. I think anyone can find something here that appeals to them. There are also a couple of cafes inside in case you want a little something to eat or drink. Free admission to the gallery is just an added bonus. Highly recommend for all tourists and even locals as fun outing.

One of the nicest things is the free admission. Great place for a day out with kids or alone. Has a little bistro if one needed a bite or coffee. Such impressive collection that one day is not enough to see them all. It's always buzzing with people - groups of tourists, families with kids, elderly. Everybody can find something interesting here. One of the absolute must-see places in Glasgow. Offers organ recitals everyday at 1 pm too. And if one gets tired walking, the Kelvingrove Park outside offers a beautiful surrounding to chill out.

No visit to Glasgow should ever be complete without visiting this gallery. It's atmosphere invokes a calm, almost ethereal feeling. You just want to linger and drink-in all that's on display. And like many places in Glasgow the museum is also a venue for performance; something my wife and I discovered by chance on our first visit as a small orchestra struck-up providing complementary accompaniment to our discoveries. This is a must visit for visitors to Glasgow. The wonderful displays that will interest everyone, including children. Too many to mention, but whether you are religious or not, the Salvador Dali iconic, spellbinding painting, The Crucifixion , and the story behind it , might be the highlight of your visit. A wonderful day (at least one) to spend and leave you with great memories and lots to talk about for years. As a Scot, I was personally draw to the emotive painting called ' The last of the Clan' by Thomas Faed. This magnificently detailed painting is displayed on the first floor in the Scottish Identity section. It's so easy to get to by bus, subway, train, and there is NO charge for entry. Don't let that make you think less of the experience. Scotland is well known for its openness to all. One more thing, you will also want to photograph this beautiful, historic , red sandstone architectural building as soon as you see it.

Incredible building. They just don't build them like that anymore. Could spend days here and still not see everything. Very talented Orchestra of mainly young musicians playing when we arrived. Organ recital on later. On both occasions the acoustics were incredible. Planning a return trip soon.
