Adventure Island is a theme park in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. The site of the theme park flanks the north end of Southend Pier and has been a theme park since 1976 when the land now forming the west side of the park was purchased by the Miller family. The park used to be known as Peter Pan's Playground and later Peter Pan's Adventure Island before becoming Adventure Island. The site is owned and managed by Stockvale Limited. The park contains thirty three rides, retail outlets, and numerous catering outlets.
A very nice park to visit! The kids love it! It’s quite pricey but still definitely recommend coming and checking it out! It right by the longest pier in the world which is definitely a plus and there’s plenty of nice restaurants and shopping close by as well.
Variety of rides. I love that smaller children can be accompanied on rides free of charge. This makes this much cheaper than other theme parks when you have young children as adults don't need to pay unless they intend to ride alone or more adults than small children want to ride at one time (you can buy individual tickets if for example the whole family wants to go on the big wheel). Wristbands can be purchased for cheaper online in advance. Staff are friendly and interact with riders during rides.
Lovely assortment of rides for all ages . Beautiful clean and tidy park. Every member of staff we came in contact with today was so full of energy and excitement. The staff Absolutely stood out to other amusement parks for helpfulness, friendliness and energy. Lots of security walking around as well. Considering the temp was in the 30's today so impressed with the staff and the running of the park .
If you can swallow the 30 quid (for over 1.2 metre kids, discounts available) then this place is pretty great. Plenty of rides for all ages and the staff are friendly and helpful. If your children are below 1.2m, adults can accompany for free which is good. My son is 1.24 so had to go on rides with his sister which was fine but something to factor in if just the one child (adults may have to get a wristband too). If you pay per ride, it's £1.20 per ticket with rides requiring 1-4 tickets. For a couple of hours, wristbands are advisable so kids can go on multiple times!
I took a group of teenage students here and they loved it. Lots of rides to keep them entertained and great to have the freedom of the wristband and be able to come and go. I was particularly impressed with the staff at the wristband exchange and cafes who were friendly and efficient and made us feel valued and welcome.
I've been coming here for years. The way it works is great, in my opinion. Pay for the rides in one go, and then extra for the bumper cars. The sun makes it nice in the day, and the lights make it nice at night (especially during Christmas and New year) It has a larger variety of people than other beaches, in my opinion. Nice for families.
The staff really make this place, very energetic and engaging with children. Every single employee was polite and made the day great fun for the kids. I went on a quiet Wednesday morning and my only gripe would be the lack of staff meant they were rotating round rides so wait times could be longer even though it was quiet. Overall great day out I’d highly recommend it.
Adventure Island is a fantastic place, there are rides for all different users, Adventure Inside is great for a few hours on a rainy day. The site is right next to the beach so if you need a chance to recover when you come off of Rage that’s a good place to do it or if you just want to relax and have a paddle for a while and you can go back after. The teenagers that work there are all so enthusiastic they make sure that everyone has a good time. There are loads of places to eat and there is a chip shop right at the back that does the most amazing chips. For last 4 years I have bought my two children annual membership because we go very often so it is excellent value for Me. If you have small children that are Red or Green bands then an adult accompanied them on the rides, Blue bands go on all rides without an adult. With annual membership you get 20% Off food and drinks within Adventure Island as well. It is a great place to spend a day out it is very accessible by road and rail and if you live within a reasonable distance and you would go more than 5 times a year then you should get an annual membership card as it is really excellent value.
I used to come here as a child and now I'm bringing my own here too. Whilst it may seem a little expensive, it's actually fantastic value for money. My little ones (3 & 5) can spend 6 hours + here, quite happily and for less than 15 quid each, that's pretty good going. We always eat in the dinosaur restaurant too, the food is excellent, it's very clean and tidy, and not at all too expensive. Highly recommended
It's a bit pricey for what it is (but I guess it's just taking advantage of the tourist trap that is the Southend Boulevard), but the offer of ride selection is fairly decent, with a good mix of thrillers and gentle rides for the smaller kids. If you commit to going on every single ride, you can probably spend a good couple of hours there. To do that though, you'd need a blue wristband, which at £30 is just way too expensive for what it is. Overall then, there's nothing wrong with the rides, but plenty wrong with the prices charged.
Been here so much I can't get bored of it. I take my kids once a year or so. You can find some of the best Fish & Chips within the theme park. You're not really British if you don't love Fish & Chips lol amazing ice-cream cones too. Not the original 99 cones, the waffle looking ones...they are just everything!!! The seaside is great too. They sell loads of silly things that are over priced and the arcades are good fun for the kids. I definitely recommend going here, there's so much to do. Also there is a shopping centre not too far away with all the usual high street stores, cafes etc
Great little adventure park. More for young kids than adults . Price for rides were very high. Need to bring your prices down works out REALLY expensive for whole family. Having said all that I would like to compliment the staff. In the main they were very young but cannot fault them in any way. They threw themselves into their roles wholeheartedly at all time. And without exception were extremely polite . Had a good day.
Good range of rollacosters and you can buy tickets to go on each ride or buy wrist bands for the day/annual passes. The wrist band seemed a little expensive. The staff were of mixed helpfulness with some more helpful than others who seemed to be just there to do a job without any frills. You get more of an experience from the main Merlin theme parks. Good for a few rides while at the beach.
I always have a great time when I visit the theme park! There are a vast range of rides and roller coasters to choose from. I highly recommend The Rage - if you enjoy a good thrill! Queue times aren't too bad either. Saturday's are busiest especially past 6pm as this is when wristbands are at a discount (they are on discount after 6pm most days but Saturday's are busiest).
The staff on the rides really work hard to ensure everyone has a good time. Would really recommend this place.Only recently discovered the giant soft play inside the pier, our kids loved it and it gives a bit more variety to the day. They do 2 for 1 on wrist bands with a blue Peter badge which makes it a very good deal.
This place is amazing and I know it is small but the staff are great the trip advisor award was I think 4.3 in 2015 and that is something to be proud of ! Why not have a family fun day out at the UKs no.1 free admission fun park. Of course there is 5 coasters lots of in the house, and my favourite u flat rides ever! Rage,a fantastic ride.its not just adventure island, there is also adventure inside and adventure golf!
Fantastic theme park that has grown and expanded over the years. Plenty of rides for all ages with some of the original attractions still working and in use. Lots of choice of places to grab a snack or some food throughout the day either in the park or outside along the promenade. Parking can be difficult over bank holidays but outside of that this is a great place to spend the day. It will however always be known as Peter Pan's Playground to those of a certain generation.
Another great evening out at Adventure Island. The food and drink is way over priced as you would expect. The park itself has rides for everyone and has a lot of great rides condensed in a small area. I love the fact it's free entry and I don't have to pay to watch the kids ride with their wristbands. A treasure from my childhood that still continues to spark excitement in all ages.
Great scenery! The views are amazing. Interesting rides and lots to do. There are loads of food places around the area. It can get extremely busy though during peak summer time.
