Great Bircham Windmill is a Grade II listed tower mill in Great Bircham, Norfolk, England.
The earliest record of a windmill in Great Bircham is in 1761, when miller Richard Miller made his will. The mill, which was probably a post mill, was offered for sale in 1769. In 1800 the miller, Robert Sparham, was in financial difficulties and made a Deed of Assignment. In 1804 the mill was offered for sale or to let by George Humphrey. The next miller was Bloom Humphrey, who was followed by his widow Martha and then their son George. The mill remained in the Humphrey family until it was demolished c1846 to enable a new tower mill to be built on its site.
We camped here twice in 2017, the kids love it. You can't beat the smell of fresh bread in the morning. Great showers very clean.

Loved it. Fab place. Good walk up the mill with excellent descriptions in every floor to help the tour. Some of the ladders are "interesting" so if scared of heights it may be a small problem...but I am and I coped. Nice watching the sheep being milked too. Had a lovely time making some bread to take away home too.

Ellie and steve are lovely and make you feel very welcome love coming to this windmill as the smell from the bakery is lush and all the staff very professional!!

Lovely family day out. Enjoyed baking the bread with my daughter and exploring the windmill. Fun activities for children; lovely little farm +playground. Nice coffee shop.

A great day out for all the family to this still fully working windmill where your little ones can make their own bread. Nice facilities, nice cafe/restaurant and bakery. Just a nice day out

They really have done all they can to give you the best experience of what this working windmill must have been like in its heyday. The journey to the 'cap' of tower is not for the faint hearted and gives full access to the machinery that powers this great beast. Making a loaf of bread from scratch adds to the authenticity although it is finished in the electric oven rather than the immense wood-fired version that sits nearby. Well worth the visit. Highly recommended.

Simply amazing. Wonderful little hidden gem.

Always stop here when I'm in the Sandringham area for a cream tea. The windmill is a pleasant place to have a snack. But as well as being able to go up the mill, it makes its own bread and cheese. I also love the two collies, so friendly and soft.

AMAZING!! What a little treasure of a place! Family owned and run, staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. We baked our own bread, gazed at all the fresh loafs, rolls and cakes for sale, which all looked super yummy! The cafe had lots on offer, fresh cake, local ice-cream, freshly made food sourced locally. We climbed to the top of the windmill, a lovely clear day so you could see for miles! Packed full of history. We wondered around the miller's cottage, dressed up, planted seeds and did some washing! Lovely play area for the children including a lovely sandpit! Rabbits, guinea pigs, donkeys, sheep and chicken for the children to feed and pet. We watched the sheep being milked too! Plenty for the children to do including a treasure trail and collecting stamps. We had a lovely day and can't wait to go back!

Lovely traditional bakery and historic mill. Cafe has limited menu but great food and service. Great educational elements for kids and grown ups including milking demos and bread making. Entry is a little steep but there is a good play area including a sand pit, guinea pigs and swings. It's all just a little rough around the edges which is of course part of the charm but not to everyones taste. Please be careful climbing the mill too. Worth doing but not really suitable for children (despite there being a pic of a newborn baby up there in a book at the bottom of people who did it).

Working windmill (on windy days), with bakery for kids to make some bread bits or adults to make a loaf. Cafe serving. Animals for kids to meet and milking. For campers, a few plots available some with electric or two shepherds huts. Kids have access to a large games room. 3 showers and 4 toilets all clean and well maintained.

If you like fresh bread or cakes then this is the place for you. The bread and cakes come out at certain times, there's a cafe there so you can have a cream tea. They hire out bikes if you fancy a bike ride and of course look round the windmill it self.

I like this place a lot. Although the food is a bit pricey it really is good. The bread is so smooth and tasty, the soup has quality ingredients, the cakes are tasty with lots of character and the selection of drinks is really good. I love being able to buy their bread and other produce. I really want to try their kits for making my own cheese. It's interesting to watch the sheep get milked and the animals really develop personalities in their free range environment. The windmill is interesting and it's great what they do to engage children in activities. If I suggested improvements it would just be me being really picky. It's a lovely place to visit though quite hard to find without sat nav. Signage could definitely be improved. The staff there are lovely.
