Malecón 2000 is the name given to boardwalk overlooking the Guayas River in the Ecuadorian port city of Guayaquil. An urban renewal project focusing on the old Simón Bolívar boardwalk, it stands along the west shore of the river for an approximate length of 2.5 km. (1.5 mi.) Several of the greatest historical monuments in the history of Guayaquil can be seen along its length, as well as museums, gardens, fountains, shopping malls, restaurants, bars, food courts, the first IMAX theater in South America, as well as boarding docks where several embarkations offer both daytime and nighttime tours up and down the Guayas River. It is one of the largest works realized in Guayaquil and it is considered a model of urban regeneration by global standards, having been declared a healthy public space by the Pan-American Organization of Health (POH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
During the colonial period, Malecón was a narrow path in roadway form. During the 19th century people started to gather around this place, gradually expanding its extension as years went by and it became a focal point of early social life in the young city.

Good place to visit with family and friends. Bathrooms and restaurants all over the place. Spacious underground parking. Good views.Eventhough it has private security, keep an eye for mugger. Overall a good place to spend a afternoon in.

The fact that this is gated off makes visiting a chore: forcing the casual passerby to walk an extra block just to cross the street. It also makes me wonder how safe it is, if the Municipality should have to lock it up.

Beautiful boardwalk. Probably my favorite place in Guayaquil. The municipality usually organizes cultural events on the weekends.

Its a beautiful place, there u can go for a beer or go to the movies or just to take a rest while you're reading a book. In front of you the Guayaquil's river

You have to visit this place when you go to Guayaquil. They have everything there: restaurants, movie theaters, Markets, Museums and a great view of Guayas river. Definitely a place to go when you travel around Ecuador.

Good place with a lot of different options of stores. Available and affordable prices in different areas. Some places are under construction.

Possibly the best attraction in Guayaquil. Free, long walk down a boardway next to the river that Guayaquil takes its name from. You don't know Guayaquil if you didn't go to the Malecón.

Activities for young and old. Enjoyed a nice stroll along the river. I found the Pirate Ship dinner cruise tying up at what appeared to be the McDonald's dock quite amusing.

It is a wonderful pier. I go there almost Everytime I visit Guayaquil because you always find something new. Is a magical place to stroll. You can find places to eat, bathrooms and. Among its attractions are: a ferris wheel, a boat with on board shows and meal, some monuments, a gallery, markets, a fair and many other attractions. I recommend you to visit this place with your family, it has free entrance.

It's a loooooong walk next to the river and there's a mall and restaurants but they're not great. I love the gardens and just how ample it is. The view is great but this place is pretty packed on the weekends with families. Very early in the morning you can see people running and working out. It's very safe and there are phone charging stations provided by Samsung.

Good and lively place to hang out. There are musicians, sellers and all kinds of activities are going on here. Good place to have a walk by the coastline.

We visited here waiting for a flight in January 2018. We had a mix of experiences. On the way here we were treated very well and everyone was very polite. The scenery was great, but it's best to look up to see if there's an event. We were caught up in a health care rally. Made it hard to leave. Otherwise, pretty place. Just remember Ecuador is hot even in January so bring breathable clothing. The river does not provide a breeze.

Delightful touristic area, soothing to the eyes and relaxing. Very colorful and attracting. Lots of people, families with children all over the place.

Malecón Is a nice place to walk around. And you definitely need to try the ferris wheel. Very cool and it costs $3.50 for a 10 minute ride. But you also need to be aware of your surroundings if you are a tourist. Over all really nice place to visit

It's an awesome place to visit when you're in Guayaquil. We had a great time walking on the long boardwalk. There were some restaurants, some tourist attaractions, and people around were polite and nice.

Great place to spend with family and friends. Can get a bit crowded, but it's very fun to visit, especially in the afternoon/evening.

Very fun and unique place. Suitable for all ages. You can eat good food, good on the attractions such as the la perla ( the peral ). You can see the water and see the boats.

Beautiful promenade. A few km to walk all the way to Las Peñas! The river is not majestic but still nice. Don't eat in malecon unless you're willing to spend quite some money... Overall pleasant experience to enjoy throughout an entire afternoon!
