The Peacock Fountain was bought by the Christchurch Beautifying Society from money bequeathed by John Thomas Peacock, a trader, politician and philanthropist. The fountain was unveiled in 1911, moved to a new location some years later, and put into storage in 1949. After a $270,000 renovation, it was commissioned again in 1996, in its third location in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. It has an elaborate colour scheme and is a much photographed tourist attraction.

Faye gave a lovely tour. Nice way to see the garden.
Awesome. I came there in a rainy day, but even with that, I loved it. Beautiful flowers and fields to walk, have a relax time and a good breath.
A spacious quiet garden. Everything is neatly maintained. Just have a nice walk in the garden and enjoy.
Beautiful botanical gardens
We are the VIP in this experience!! Cause we arrived at 3:30 pm, the last in that day. No other guests. The Garden tour guide is very kind. She take us to see around garden by cute car, and told us the history and knowledge about here.
