The Elbphilharmonie (German pronunciation: [ˈɛlpfɪlhaʁmoˌniː] (listen); "Elbe Philharmonic Hall"), popularly nicknamed Elphi, is a concert hall in the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg, Germany, on the Grasbrook peninsula of the Elbe River. It is among the largest in the world.
The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave, iceberg or quartz crystal resting on top of an old brick warehouse (Kaispeicher A, built in 1963) near the historical Speicherstadt. The project is the result of a private initiative by the architect and real estate developer Alexander Gérard and his wife Jana Marko, an art historian, who commissioned the original design by the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, who developed and promoted the project (since 2003 in cooperation with the Hamburg-based real estate developer and investor Dieter Becken) for 3.5 years until the City of Hamburg decided to develop the project by itself. It is the key project of the new Hafencity development and the tallest inhabited building in Hamburg, with a final height of 108 metres (354 ft).

This building has history and modernity. The concert halls are famous and always remain famous and booked. If you are serious about attending the concerts then you have to make the bookings months earlier. Building's gives a landscape of Hamburg and the vast beautiful harbour from all four sides. And the entry to it is free which is great too.

An amazing building in the perfect setting towering over the harbour area with perfect views all round. The bendy glass exterior is wonderful and the building contains two concert halls and a hotel with associated car parking. It's free to get in to the main foyer and to walk around the outside of the building for the views. To see the main concert hall you need to book a tour.

This is a staple when doing sight-seeing in Hamburg. The view is absolutely beautiful and truly worth a visit. This was my favourite thing about Hamburg! But you should get tickets in advance, this will make your visit a lot more relaxed.

It's such a great building with such a great view, i enjoyed every minute there, you are able to see the whole city from just one place. Also, there is a terrace which is running all around the building and you can go around and see the city from different places and get some amazing shots if you like photography like me. As my enterance was free i am not sure how much does the ticked costs but i believe it's less than 10 euros. The only thing i regret back then is that i was alone, i just wanted to be with my girlfriend because great view is nothing if you don't have anyone to share it with. I recommend it for everyone who loves photography because you can get some pretty neat shots of Hamburg at night. 5 stars from me.

Beautiful building with amazing views of all parts of Hamburg. if there is a queue to the main building just go round the corner to the info office where there will be no queue. Also the bar on the main floor has great coffee in reusable cups. Oh and I recommend taking the escalators as they are unique.
