Hannover, Germany

Staatsoper Hannover is a German opera house and company in Hanover, the state capital of Lower Saxony. It is part of the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater Hannover (often referred to as simply Staatstheater Hannover), which puts on operas, stage productions, and concert programs. It consists of the divisions Schauspiel Hannover, Staatsballett Hannover, Staatsorchester Hannover and Theatermuseum Hannover. Its season runs from September to June.

The venue of Staatsoper Hannover is a theatre built in classical style between 1845 and 1852 based on a plan drawn by Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves. The building was badly damaged in World War II and rebuilt in 1948. In 1985, the acoustics were improved, and between 1996 and 1998, the stage facilities were renovated.
