Notre Dam cathedral. The place is considered as the most beautiful French Gothic architecture in Vietnam. Inside I did enjoyed the craving at the entrance, stunning stained glass, ornate ceiling, several paintings and statues. It is a chill place to visit its history, good for potential picture taken and the entrance is free. The place only open during weekends.

UNDERGOING REPAIRS on 19/01/2018 I was very keen to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral during my visit to Saigon. After checking in to the nearby Oscar Saigon Hotel my wife and I walked up the short distance of about a kilometre from the hotel to the cathedral. However to my dismay, the cathedral was closed to visitors as there are extensive repairs being carried out. I had to be satisfied with a view of the cathedral from outside. I was told that it may be open to worshippers on Sunday 20th. Unfortunately it was not. The statue of Virgin Mary in the garden in front of the cathedral is blissful. It is said to have performed a miracle in shedding tears in 2005. People still come here in the hope of seeing this miracle all over again! I am told that this cathedral had been built by the French with all the material required having been brought from France. The outer bricks still maintain their original colour. The bell towers are tall and said to be about 58 metres. This is one of the few strongholds of Catholicism in a largely Buddhist Vietnam. I wish I could have ventured in. Hopefully I would visit Ho Chi Ming City Again! The road between the cathedral and the nearby old post office is a lively place. I found girls modelling on the road!! However though I would wish to give a higher rating, it would not be fair as I could not go inside. The three star rating is for the Virgin Mary statue!

Very beautiful cathedral in heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The post office is also across the street so definitely worth combining a visit to these two. Down east further is the Vincom center and further along that the Saigon Centre. Also nearby is the Independence palace. They had a neat nativity scene while we were there in December

One of the famous Land mark of the Hochiminh city. Good location near many book store and hochiminh central post office. But these day, cathedral is under construction. You can not go inside. All you can do is a taking photo outside.

It's beautiful on the outside but can't imagine how's inside since I don't get the criteria to enter. There was a mass going on when I wanted to visit it but the people at the entrance told me not to. The old post office is next to it and also a nice viet book alley.

Under construction at the moment and also closed. So aside from a photo of a decent church not really worth visiting. though with the post office across the street and book cafe Street next to it the area itself is very nice

Beautiful place to visit while in Ho Chi Minh City. Such a nice church. After you take a look inside, sit outside and gaze at the church while looking at the bustling city moving around you. Beat the heat and buy an ice cream from a nearby mobile vendor.

8th March 2018 Still closed due to renovation “Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.”

*** CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS TILL 2020 **** At first, renovations were estimated to continue until late 2019 but now have been delayed until 2020 sometime. You will not be able to enter; so the best you can obtain is an exterior shot; as you continue to explore this beautiful city. I wish there were a way to mark closed till 2020 on Google Maps; as like myself I am guilty of "assuming" things are open based solely on quick map search :(

Was looking forward to visiting this church but on reaching the location was disappointed to find out that it was closed for renovation. There were barricades in place to prevent people from going close to the church steps. As a result there were hordes of tourists milling around the statue in front of the church posing for the obligatory photos/selfies. There was scaffolding in place on either side of the church which is sure to disappoint some photographers as well

Nice church building. But as others mentioned it is currently under renovation until 2020 so you can't do anything but see and take pictures of the from exterior and admire it from afar. You can't go in for now until it is finally finished.

This building is definitely one of the place you must visit in Saigon. As of today (28Apr2018) it is still under renovation (facelifting - I guess). It looks to me that about 80% has been completed. I notice that the visitors still can go inside the church to take photos although it is renovating.

One of the largest and oldest Catholic church in Vietnam and is just around the city. A must-visit, though there's a renovation going on right now. Night view is also perfect!

Always nice to see such architecture in the middle of Ho Chi Minh City. Can’t see much now besides for the main entrance facade, the place is closed for renovations. You can still get your picture or selfie from the front lawn. The post office is next to it, and is also a nice building to check out... total time spent without going inside the cathedral = about 20 minutes (post office included).

Its a must see of course and my case thats exactly right.. I must see it next time as restoration work kept me outside. It is well worth the visit though as the Post Office is, of course, opposite. Both are gems and eloquent testimonies in brick to the thinking of their builders. I did see inside the Post Office and it offered maps of telecomunication lines from a far gone time. There are great wooden desks to write yr cards on long before sim cards appeared.

I recommend the cathedral as part of your trip if you are already in the area or if you are going at the post office since its exactly infront of the post office. You could walk around Saigon and stumble upon different places and the cathedral is one of them, I still enjoyed my trip here but the cathedral was closed and I'm not sure if its just during that time or if they will soon open it, I notice some construction going on so it might be that. The histoty of the cathedral is one of the reason you'll visit the place.

Perched in the middle of a busy modern city, it's such an awesome feeling looking at this old building. While the building around it is in modern design, it has an old European architecture. Going inside, there's a deep feeling of sacred solemnity. What's surprising for me is that the cathedral is still used for Catholic Sunday Services even until today. So please be considerate when you visit this place on a Sunday.

Located on number 1 Paris Commune, District 1. Its official name is Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception, which is one of the famous symbols of Ho Chi Minh City. It was established by French colonists between 1863 and 1860. With the special France's architecture, this church has been attracting thousands visitors come here to explore and pray with God 🙏. A sanctuary to worship, honour God and Mother in the belief of Christians ✝

A vintage church indeed. Classic architecture of the past. As there are no tall structures around it, the church looks prominent. There is a garden and post-office near to it. A tall Virgin Mary statue is erected in front of it. We are not able to enter as the gates are closed for reasons unknown. 11.11.17 Church undergoing restoration.

A must visit place in Saigon! The place can get very touristy most of the time for a decent picture. Nice architecture but you are not allowed inside unless if you are a Cath.

I joined the English mass on Sunday, 9:30am. It was wonderful to see people of all races from all continents(ok,maybe not Antarctica),however, we all came there because of our believes and it was a great feeling. I felt like we might be different but this place united us. For a while I forgot about the world issues between countries. We all were there for the same reason and it felt amazing. They welcomed us in Jesus name. It was a great great experience....
