Vĩnh Nghiêm Pagoda (Chùa Vĩnh Nghiêm; literally Ever Solemn) is a pagoda in an area of 6,000 square metres (65,000 sq ft) at 339, Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa street, Ward 7, District 3 Ho Chi Minh City. This is the first pagoda in Vietnam to be built in Vietnamese traditional architecture style but with concrete. The highest structure in this pagoda is the 7-story, 40-metre-high (130 ft) tower. The model and namesake of the pagoda was the 11th century Vinh Nghiem Buddhist temple in Đức La Village, Trí Yên Commune, Tạng Giang County, Bắc Giang Province, which dates the reign of Lý Thái Tổ during the Lý Dynasty. The village was once a major center of Buddhist teaching and the Trúc Lâm sect of Vietnamese Buddhism.

Contemporary Buddhist pagoda. This is not in the center of the city but in a fairly busy bus route, so reaching the place is quite easy. The place was not too crowded in the evening when we visited.

Vinh Nghiem Temple is very historic. Heard Thich Nat Hanh came to pray here for dead people and it was really amazing. We came during Tet and chanted the Medicine Buddha Sutra. Very comfortable.

Nice pagoda near the town centre. This is the first pagoda in Vietnam to be built (1964 to 1971) in Vietnamese traditional style but with modern materials. There is a 7 story, 40 metre high tower. One of the highlights for tourists in Ho Chi Minh City. A visit is recommended.

beware of the street sellers at the main entrance, the seller ladies will not stop bugging us until we bought 2 small candles for 200000VND! just when we thought that was it, a seemingly nice monk gestured for us to follow him to the inside of the temple and offered to take pictures for us with our phone. we thought he was being nice, but when we were about to leave, the monk actually try to ask money from us! we pretended not to notice and quickly put in some money into the donation box and walked away.
