Die Kathedralbasilika Unserer Lieben Frau des Friedens (englisch Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace) ist eine römisch-katholische Kirche in Honolulu im US-amerikanischen Bundesstaat Hawaii. Die Kathedrale des Bistums Honolulu und Basilica minor ist in weiteren Sprachen bekannt: französisch Cathédrale de Notre Dame de la Paix, portugiesisch Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Paz und hawaiisch Malia o ka Malu Hale Pule Nui. Sie wurde 1843 errichtet und ist unter Anrufung Regina pacis der Gottesmutter Maria geweiht. Die denkmalgeschützte Kathedrale soll die älteste katholische Kathedrale sein, die in den Vereinigten Staaten ständig als solche in Gebrauch ist.
Die Kathedrale ist eines der ältesten bestehenden Gebäude in der Innenstadt von Honolulu. Das Patrozinium Unserer Lieben Frau des Friedens stammt von den ersten katholischen Missionaren auf den Hawaii-Inseln, Mitgliedern der Arnsteiner Patres. Die Kathedrale steht auf einem Grundstück, das den Missionaren von König Kamehameha III. für die Gründung der Mission 1827 zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. Im November 1837 vertrieb König Kamehameha III. die Katholiken auf Druck protestantischer Missionare von den Inseln. Der Wendepunkt kam am 10. Juli 1839, als die französische Fregatte Artemise unter dem Kommando von Captain Cyrille Laplace in den Hafen von Honolulu segelte und unter anderem die Freiheit der katholischen Religion im Königreich Hawaiʻi forderte.
I was married to Carol Inukai on August 27 1988 and will never forget our week in Hawaii because we were in love )1 she was born in Korea and lived in Hawaii 2) met her in Scranton, PA and fell in love only to start dating and 2 years later were married in Hawaii plus Father Terrance Watanabe was our priest who married us and that time in Oahu was so great and I will never forget the time of precious love ultimately raised 3 beautiful sons who are now older and working in their fields of study.The Church was magnificent and priests, bishops, nuns and secular staff were greeted with hospitality.

The mass ceremony is fo solemn; the church choir sings beautifully, feels like angels are beside you singing and you will have goose bumps when they sing; the priest are really awesome, they preach in a way that you will absorb the words of God into your heart:) Beautiful!

This is where I took instruction and was confirmed. The Diocese office is next door and the Sisters of St. Paul Catholic Book store is not far. This is a warm church family and a beautiful cathedral.

I attended Mass at this beautiful and humble Basilica in August 2017. I love it and the people who worship there. If I move to Hawaii, I will live near Our Lady of Peace so I can walk there for Mass.
