one of the top sport to view entire Honolulu city. Nice place for family picnic. Public restroom available. Parking available near to the lookout spot as we well as the back of the park. Once you park your car its couple of more steps to actual lookout. Accesses-sable by wheelchairs as well. If possible visit this place during sunset, golden glow over downtown and Diamond head crater gives a magical feeling. Good place to relax with family and friend. Road to this place cover quite a bit of narrow sections. You will see places where max speed is capped to 10 MPH.
Best place to view Honolulu. The lookout is 30 steps from the parking lot. So there is no excuse not making this one of your must visit spot on Oahu. There are some picnic tables and benches. But it is just as easy throwing a picnic blanket down and enjoy your time here.
Splendid view to Honolulu, Diamond Heat Crater and the Pacific Ocean. Sunset in the evening must be gorgeous. We had to leave early so we missed the sunset by an hour or so. Parking is very limited so be patient.
Went up by car to see the night view of Waikiki and it was great. The road leads to the vista point was winding and narrow so need to be careful. Google map tells you it will be closed ap 6:45pm but you can still get high enough to enjoy the view.
Such a short drive from anywhere near the south side of O'ahu Hawaii. I left our housing rental from Hawaii Kai area about 30 min. until sunset. It was a little hard to find on maps. I stopped once off the road thinking it was the location with such spectacular views and lots of cars– but it wasn't. Keep going up the road and you'll see National Parks style signs. Parking was packed near the lookout. But just around the corner towards the entrance was empty parking and a nice and easy flat walk along a wide groomed grass trail between the trees and bright green foliage. Highly recommend just before sunset as the sun sets over Pearl Harbor. Visiting Diamond Head Crater, Waikiki or Honolulu? This view is a must.
I seriously loved it here. I was in awe as soon as I got a glimpse of the view, and we weren't even at the top yet! It really is an amazing view from up there. I would recommend coming here and just basking it all in for a moment. No photos. Just breathe it all in! And when I found out that the parking was free and there was absolutely nothing to pay for, I fell in love even more. Lol
Our go-to perch for epic sunsets over Honolulu. Parking can be a bit iffy, so suggest taking advantage of a lower lot and walking up (not hard). Also worth bringing a jacket and - if you want to make a real event of it - some fun eats and drinks!
One of my favorite lookouts! You can see all of Honolulu, the airport and onward into Pearl Harbor from here. I enjoy lying on the grass in front of the lookout area and eating a snack. My favorite part is the drive up round top road, I like to ride a scooter up and enjoy the views on the way up.
I did a bike ride from Waikiki to the lookout. Excellent work out definitely will get your ticker ticking. Amazing views all the way from Pearl Harbor and beyond Diamondhead. Took me about an hour to get up there in about 20 minutes to get back. Totally worth it. And then the bike ride downhill was awesome, I deserved it. :-)
Amazing lookout with sweeping views from diamond head to the east then all the way out to the west with waikiki in full view straight ahead. This lookout is one of the best on Oahu and would recommend as its easy to get to with no hiking required. Just drive straight in. Parking is limited. It is free. If all the car parks are taken drive back around the bend to the picnic area parking and there is a path from that car park to the lookout which is a short stroll. We came around 3pm and those were the photos I took. The drive up is also nice with tropical trees and jungle feel.
Beautiful winding drive up the hill. The road is narrow but very scenic. The lookout offers a breathtaking view of the city of Honolulu, Waikiki and Diamond Head. There is a picnic area and restrooms. The view is well worth the drive!
Great photo spot! The lookout is gorgeous. There is a small parking area for the lookout. It can be a little windy as well. Super clean area.
When I went to Oahu, diamond head was closed. I thought I could not have the skyline view until I found this place. Well, to be honest, it was greater than expected. I took lots of good photos here. I enjoyed the view and fresh air. The road to this location is pretty difficult drive. Stay caution of every curve and watch out for car from different direction. Stay safe and enjoy.
Spectacular views and awesome rainforest Drive. Yes the road is narrow and winding. But take it slow and enjoy all the beautiful scenery. Lots of little spots to stop and get out if you go the entire Road up and back down again on the other side. Definitely worth taking your time along the road and listening to the beautiful birds singing.
This is the second year we come to Oahu, and we couldn't miss going to the lookout. You need to go during sunset. It's awesome watching the night lights turn on and slowly show the beautiful sights of Waikiki from a distance, with all the light. Beautiful!
Beautiful views of the island!! Spectacular view from Diamond Head to Pearl harbor...parking is limited at the very top but you can always park and take a short walk to the top. However, I've never had an issue.
One of the more underrated daytime panoramic views on the island. Great place to relax and picnic. Quiet and cool (sometimes even too cool because of the strong breezes). There are beginner trails you can start right from the picnic area. One caution is don't leave valuables in your car if you're leaving it out of your sight, like at the lookout point. Infamous for car break ins. Your window will be cracked and the culprits use nearby hiking trails to get away. You can see all the broken glass on the ground. I take everything with me and leave my windows down.
