What a blessed day at the Zoo with my family. So much to see and do. A special blessing to the gentleman at the Dots by the playground. He was so kind to my family, it set the tone for what made a wonderful day. Please give him my blessing. The best part was that outside the Zoo is a beautiful public park and huge playground with a children's train and a replica of the Washington Mall. Great job to whomever designed it. A must do in Houston.

We have been members of THE HOUSTON ZOO for years! I love the variety of animals and they let you bring food/drinks in. The 4 D movies are awesome! Catch it when they have the different displays you can elect to go to. My boys loved the DINOSAUR exhibit with life size dinosaur figures that move and make sounds! The HERMAN PARK is right next door with paddle boats and a train ride! THE HOUSTON MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE is a quick walk down the street! SO MUCH FUN!

The zoo is expensive, but worth every penny. Every time we go here they are reworking an exhibit or improving it in one way or another. I would be sure to arrive early because by noon it is packed and difficult to find parking. The zoo employees are very knowledgeable and happy to share their information with anyone who takes the time to listen. Once inside there are plenty of bathrooms and places to shop, eat and drink... For a price. The food and drink in the zoo is obviously very expensive but when you consider the cost of caring for all of those animals, it is easy to get over the $7.00 drink. All in all, the Houston zoo is worth the trip and the price of admission.

Zoo is awesome... every employee is nice and courteous. The zoo membership is the way to go if you live in Houston... well worth the money... for 79 it covers one adult, a guest and kids under 2 are free... there is other plans as well but that is the one that suited me the best. They have an awesome aquarium as soon as you enter the main entrance to your right...

The Houston zoo is a great place to being your kids, there's always shows and animal feedings, etc going on at certain times, the enclosures are very well kept and the animals are of utmost importance. The food is expensive, but it goes to the cause of keeping great animal enclosures, there are inside and outside tables. There is even an aquarium section along with an indoor rainforest bird exhibit where you are in the same area as the birds are. There is a section dedicated for kids that included a play place, petting zoo, and carousel. There are informative facts in front of about every animal enclosure about the animal and their environment. This is absolutely a great place to go for a trip with the family, a date, or just by yourself.

I absolutely loved my experience here. I bought tickets online for my best friend, her husband, and my goddaughter. Got through to get in so fast!!! The staff was so kind and knowledgeable. Of course we went during spring break, so it was wild. We got to see everything we could imagine, and then some. The animals all seem very happy and well taken care of. Their keepers seem to have great bonds with them, and it was very enjoyable. The best part for us adults were the food trucks/stands in different areas. I grabbed some of the street tacos and fell in absolute love! I would go back for those any day. Best zoo I've visited, hands down. There's so much more to see around it, as well. Will be coming back soon!!

Houston Zoo is wonderful and beautiful zoo. It's lovely to walk through, with so many large beautiful oak trees and many other beautiful plant life. Be sure to check out the birds (the indoor tropical birdhouse and the outdoor gardens). It is an often overlooked area, but so spectacular. The Houston Zoo is always working on expanding and improving the animal exhibits, so the animals always appear healthy and happy. The best thing about the Houston Zoo is that they put a lot of emphasis on education and conservation. Not only will you have fun seeing the animals, but you will learn so much! The Zoo does an amazing amount of conservation work around the world with international partners, and your visit contributes to that work! Very proud of our Houston Zoo.

A great way to spend the day and the kids will love it. The zoo is fairly big and it has plenty of animals to see. The University of Houston's cougar lives here as well. It is located near the museum district if you wanted to make a whole day out of it. There are places to eat inside if you wanted. Visiting during Christmas time is a good idea. The zoo does a nice job of decorating with lights and lots of people come out to see it every year.

Always love the zoo. It was not crowded, parking was good but we got there early. Chasing 5 kids is usually hard places but the animals were active and close up so the kids stayed close. All keepers were eager to help find things like the baby cheetahs. Also with any questions about animals. My kids loved the baby elephant. The park was very clean and cheerful.

The Zoo is always a great time for a family day out! Plus it's located near parks and museums and will keep you busy and moving the entire day! There are tons of animals to see and you can even talk to the zoo trainers in certain sections, which is pretty awesome. But the best part is getting to feed the giraffes, it's just truly amazing.

I was positively amazed at all the animals. So glad they had a map to guide one around the zoo. It would be easy to get lost and go in circles. They also had labels and strategically placed map boards that let you know where you were making it easy to decide which way you wanted to go. I enjoyed my visit so much the time just flew by. Loved the aquarium too.

We loved the zoo so much we bought s membership. I recommend this for anyone who plans on going to the shop more than 2 times a year. My daughter loves the offering zoo and she loves going to see the animals. The food is pricey which is too be expected going to any type of park but it's fun experience for the entire family. Right now they are renovating so it seems a lot smaller and crowded but still or favorite.

This is an amazing place. So many beautiful animals that are well cared for. Gardening and layouts create a pleasant atmosphere on a sunny day. As a UH student I get in for free. 👍🐒🐙🐊 I will say, though, that the prices for non-students are a bit ridiculous. A family of four will have to spend about $70 to visit. They have some free days but still. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

Great place to visit solo or with your family. Don't worry if the parking lot looks packed, when you get inside the zoo it doesn't feel that way. Pay attention to the keeper talk times because they are awesome. It is better to get there early because the animals tend to sleep once it gets hot. If you have an extra $7-14, I would recommend paying for the giraffe feeding. There are two feedings per day, and the small line is worth the wait for this unique experience. Also, don't forget about the indoor exhibits. They are well thought out, and a great place to get out of the hot, Texas sun.

This is a good zoo but right now I can not give this a place a great review right now. There is so much construction going on which is great but there is too much confusion trying to get around. It was amazing feeding a giraffe but ti me $7.00 for 3 pieces of lettuce and you don't even get to touch the animals. The prices in the zoo are way to high plus the entrance price of $19.00 is a little steep. Give the zoo a few years to finish remodeling then give it a try.

It's like every year the prices are going up. I love the zoo. I come here at least 4 times a year. I enjoy bringing my family. The reason for the 4 star, is because there is always renovation going on. I like that it's big and they have snack and beverage stands almost in every corner. They also have a lot of shaded areas. My kids enjoy the kids zone. They have a petting zoo and kids play area so the parents can relax while the kids run around and play.

My family had a great time at the Houston Zoo. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to feed lettuce leaves to the giraffes. The photographer managed to snap a photo of the exact moment when a giraffe licked my infant daughter’s hand during the feeding, which I thought was hilarious. We also enjoyed watching the elephants get bathed. Other highlights included petting some very friendly goats and watching the lions take a cat nap. We also have fond memories of the free-roaming peacocks. Some of the zoo was closed for renovation while we were there in February 2018. Overall, I really recommend the Houston Zoo if you are visiting Houston and looking for something to do with the family.

I always love going to the zoo. We have a membership so I can take my 2 year old often. Our favorite part is feeding the giraffes. The elephant exhibit, primates and gorillas are some of our favorite areas. Splash pad and petting zoo great for little ones. Also love feeding all the ducks and birds in front of the zoo at McGovern lake.

We love going to this zoo! We always have so much fun. They have awesome things to do like the splash pad, feeding the giraffes, And the carousel. All around it is always an amazing time. I love that they have the membership option because it saves my family a lot of money and we can have fun all year long!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Even though we went on a hot summer Saturday there is plenty of shade from the direct sun all through the zoo. The inside exhibits are placed in good places to give you a break from the heat. They have so many unique animals in addition to the regular zoo animals you expect to see. The sea lions and the tropical birds were my favorite exhibits. Overall Houston zoo is amazing!

It was a nice zoo. The elephants were our favorite especially since they had a new baby. It was very hot out so I'm thankful for the cool spots you could stop at. Only thing I wished was better was access to cold filtered water. The water in the machines outside did not taste good and the people at the cafes seemed bothered when we asked them to refill our reusable bottles we purchased there.

The Houston Zoo is a great place to spend the day walking , learning about animals and looking animals. The Houston Zoo does a really great job of keeping you cool in the summer . They offer plenty of shade and cool places . They also have fun things that everyone can participate in like the petting zoo, splash pad and the various animals that you can touch or see up close and personal. The zoo has very helpful and friendly people who will help and assist if you need anything . The price for zoo can be a little bit high but if shop around you can find discount tickets . The zoo does not charge for parking but if you arrive early to get a good spot expect to walk . The zoo also allows you bring in your food too. The Houston Zoo is a great place to bring anyone of any age . This is a great place for families, couples and single people who want to spend the day by themselves.

Very nice. Large zoo with a wide variety of animals. Each species is kept in a very natural environment. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Short list but good food choices. Great for kids. Parking is free but prices are high for food and drinks. Definitely recommend. Good place to take visitors to Houston.

I love the zoo but I visited outside the zoo as I love to go and feed the ducks and then just sit out by the infinity pool and enjoy the breeze. It's become my new favorite place to unwind hey some exercise or just get some good fresh air. And I've seen the park really being a lot cleaner than years past. Yes you will see a few homeless people but you will see them being respectful and not bothering anybody.
