Very impressed with the museums exhibits when I went back to visit. The amount of variety in the exhibits is really a sight to see. I was excited to see the difference from when I lived here over 10 years ago. They have history ranging from Indiana local history two special things like the dinosaur exhibit they have there. Standing on the scales to see what you weigh in terms of large mammals is hilarious. This attention to detail is what I believe made our visit so special.

Great (although smallish) facility with very in-depth exhibits and lots of hands-on experiences for the kiddos. Probably the BEST part about membership is the EXTENSIVE reciprocity programs they have. Wonderful for short visits but also possible to spend 4+ hours here. My family LOVES the ISM!!

Went to go see the last Jedi and it was amazing. The screen is so large that no seat is a bad seat. The sound quality has to be heard to be believed and the seats are assigned so that you don't have to worry about not getting your favorite seat if your running late for the movie. The staff is also a cut above the rest as well.

Great museum to learn about the history of Indiana. It has a wide variety of artifacts from all of the history of the state of Indiana. Starting with the natural history of the state you progress to beginning of statehood for Indiana. Historical context of the settlers that traveled through the state through many interactive media. You then move towards the Indiana’s involvement with other major United States historical events such as every major war, the civil rights movement, and industrial changes over time. You finish with famous contributions from local Hoosiers and famous celebrities from the state. The top level is usually reserved for different traveling exhibitions and other temporary events. Overall it is a great place for all ages.

There are many learning opportunities here for both young and old. There are displays that are fairly constant and others that rotate. Currently there is an exhibit on poisons. Where they come from, how they have been used or abused from ancient time to the present. My 9yo granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit and doing the interactive cases at the end. Which she got all 3 cases correct on the first try and without any help.

Very interesting museum, nicely laid out. Delicious cafe food. Beautiful location and view on the canal. Definitely go outside and walk the canal. Pay for parking when you are finished. You will get a discount coupon for $3.00 off parking with entrance ticket.

We visited the Poison exhibit and it was really fun. It was more for older kids though (10+) my son and I really enjoyed it. We also visited the prehistoric area and it was okay. It had some interesting stuff about Indiana I did know. We've been to the movie theater here on several occasions and always had a good experience and that's saying something because I'm picky when it comes to theaters.

I took my family down this past weekend for the pinewood derby race and had an absolute blast. There are some very talented "child" engineers that post some amazing times! Even though we didn't come close to winning all of us had fun. Then, we toured the museum until close. It is very easy to spend 6+ hours here even with younger kids (7 and 8 yo). I highly recommend this place. The only drawback is the food prices. $13 for a sandwhich is pricey.

Good place to learn Indiana history. And the farmers market cafe inside is surprisingly good! Usually the restaurant in museums are very expensive and the foods are not good. But this one is the contrary! It’s inexpensive and the food is very good! They serve fast too. Very impressive.

Indiana has made an effort to educate its population on the history of its state. The museum is ok for the price, but I'm left wanting of more from this place. From what I gather, Indianapolis and Indiana in general are just a bit behind the times when it comes to becoming more cosmopolitan and progressive... and it's possible they like it that way. But, as a visitor from out of town just in for a race, Indy just doesn't offer much else...and the State Museum is a testament to that.

Greatest zoo in the United States! Nice layout, great landscaping, large selection of animals. Courteous employees, lots of snack choices, plenty of seating. Most striking is the amount of room for each animal display. The animals had so much room. Even though in captivity, the animals seemed happy and very well cared for. Great, outstanding zoo. Had to be the best in the United States!

This place was great. We took the kids and they enjoyed it. There was alot to see and lots to do. There were many things that the kids could touch. I noticed workers actively checking and repairing interactive parts of the museum, which is great. So often places have wonderful equipment and then it doesn't work because its old and hasn't been repaired, but not here. The cafe's food wasn't the best, but I am a picky eater with food restrictions. The rest of the family mostly enjoyed their food. Overall, it is a place we would definitely visit again.

They offer free Wednesday evenings with activities on the canal for the summer. The activities are more for younger children but walking the canal is always a plus. The paddle boat rental on the other side sales ice cream. Parking was $8 for two hours. Our boys are 10 so we let them each bring a basketball. (Be careful not to drop it in the canal tho😂)

I have always loved the state musuem! They have well put together exhibitions and it's relatively inexpensive. The staff are always welcoming and the facility is absolutely beautiful. It's something worth checking out if you're in indy.
