We went on top and it's pretty from there. You can get a good view of whole city right from the centre. It won't require much time if you are visiting the city try and be on top. You will love it.

Always thought it was a cool monument in downtown Indianapolis but I didn't realize you could go to the top of it! I took the stairs and got quite the workout. I suggest paying 2 dollars at the gift shop and taking the elevator. It'll save you time and energy. The view is a bit lack-luster but it's a unique experience!

It is a very iconic part of Indianapolis. I love to go see it in the winter time when the Christmas lights are all strung up! There is plenty of food joints, and coffee/candy shops around in case you get hungry. It is very cool to go in the monument! Super fun to walk around the circle at night.

Very detailed monument, constructed beautifully. 2 dollars for an elevator ride (I recommend paying this if you don't wanna walk up over 300 steps to the top as the strepps get smaller and smaller) the view is great at the top looking over the city of Indianapolis. My only complaint is how small the 50 steps are after you get out of the elevator.

We have went to the museum on several occasions and always pleasantly happy with our experience. We went recently to visit the downtown Christmas tree on the last warm evening. It was beautiful and the perfect evening to go. It is always well-kept and security is always available to make the experience nice for everyone. It's one of Indianapolis historic sites and a beautiful place to visit year-round.

This is a must see!! Check the website for hours. There are only weekend hours during the winter. Climb the stairs to the top. It is a though climb. It gets tight and the oxygen gets low. On my last visit the elevator was broke. Usually if you climb the stairs, the elevator is free to take down. It costs a dollar or so to ride up.

The monument is gorgeous. I love to sit on the steps or even on the monument (Circle) itself. The city keeps it nice and clean year around and it's always a nice place to go take a load of or meet up. I'd definitely check this spot out if I wasn't a local.
Scott Beamavr. 13, 2018
The place was nice and there was no crowd when we went there. Parking is not that difficult to find as well. It's in the middle of downtown so the location is really nice and you can just walk to anywhere that you want after visiting this place. My advice is to visit this place on Sunday when parking is free and not a lot of crowd.

Had a good time out with friends. Good music. Nice waitress. Goooooood drinks!!! And the wings are good. Only complaint is that they waited till it was almost 11pm before they lowered the lights.
Christina Edwardsavr. 18, 2018
Gorgeous stonework and fountains. Museum and lookout inside the monument. Horse-drawn carriages all year, Xmas tree lighting in winter. Locals call it simply, "the circle". It's the geographical center (more or less) of the city of Indianapolis which, is the center of the state of Indiana. A must see in Indy. .
Laura Monroejuin 3, 2018
This is always a fun stop while downtown. Going to the top is a work out but worth the view. The museum underneath is also very interesting to walk through. Be sure to check ahead of time for events though! Sometimes it's impossible to get near the circle due to closures or sheer number of people downtown for one event or another.

Such a beautiful place rich with history. Great place to take photos. The elevator ride or stairs to the top are definitely all about making memories. The top offers great views and photos as well.
Heather Ratcliffjuin 5, 2018
This is located in the inner circle. This is a beautiful monument. Has water falls and pool. Shop inside monument. The sky view was closed. Would have liked to gone up.

This is probably one of the most scenic spots in Indianapolis. The monument is surrounded by the tall downtown buildings but still stands out from the center of the roundabout at the West Meridian street. There is a beautiful foamy waterfall on the northwest side of the monument. There are paid parking spots in a walking radius in the area. There are coffee and fast food as well as bigger shopping centers in the area. This is definitely a spot that one does not want miss stopping by while in Indianapolis.
Tadesse Fikre Teferrajuin 18, 2018
Very beautiful. The detail and scale of the carvings is amazing. The sacrifice of common soldiers is commemorated here. Very cool concept and important to remember. It's a must see. You almost can't not see it if you're downtown. The circle street and buildings around it are nice and probably expensive to enter.
Russ Musselmanjuil. 12, 2018
Great view over the city from the platform on top. The stairs can get old on a hot summer day and you might want to consider spending $2 for the elevator but it is a fun and rewarding experience to walk up a square, hollow structure. Many stairs have little bronze plates commemorating a member or entity of the military.
Gottfried Kibelkajuil. 13, 2018
Very cool monument with an excellent square (circle) of shops and restaurants. I recommend taking a horse-drawn carriage tour or visiting the state capitol building a block away. Rocket Fizz is also a cool store if you like wacky soda flavors.

I did not understand just how large this monument is until I saw the tourists on the steps. This thing is absolutely massive. As a Canadian now living in TN, I found the statue of Lady Liberty (I presume) standing atop the dead bodies of confederate soldiers very interesting. On Wednesday when it was open we paid the $2 each to ride the (kinda scary) elevator up to the observatory. Wonderful view of the downtown from the top. Be advised that it's not air conditioned up there, though! We walked down the 330 steps. Anyone who is a bit on the hefty side might feel a bit cramped, as the staircase is quite narrow. The only reason I'm giving this 4 out of 5 is because the people who work in the monument were rather disinterested. Smile, people!
Emily Armstrongjuil. 6, 2018
If you are thinking of going up to the top, DO IT! It is a beautiful view! We went up the stairs and it was well worth it. The monument itself is beautiful and well sculpted. There is a ton of history behind it and most of all, it's a free and fun experience anyone can participate in!
Victoria Franklinaoût 11, 2018
This is a beautiful monument that we had no idea how amazing & enormous it was. The monument circle area is very nice, historic, & beautiful. The downtown area is very nice. There is a very large amount of homeless. It’s sad for sure to see because I’m confident most of them are mental health situations. The only part that is challenging is that they go to the monument circle and lay all over the monuments that tourists have come to see. Indianapolis may need to make some decisions to help this issue, or I’m afraid tourists may stop coming to their otherwise beautiful monument circle.
