It's really nice, you got some nice regular stuff on the ground floor and some more on first with some modern art. Worth a visit if you got some time.
A good little museum covering local history and wildlife. A highlight for me was seeing the big cat that was caught in the area not too long ago. Very interesting for those with an interest in crypto zoology. Sceptic or otherwise. I do plan to return and have a longer look at all the exhibits.
Myself and a group of friends decided to go into Inverness Museum & Art Gallery as a last minute decision and am extremely happy that we made the choice. I enjoyed the art gallery (even though I'm not a big fan of art) as there is so much variation so there is something for everyone. I didn't enjoy the museum that much as I don't really like taxidermy but this suits some people so still a great place to visit either way.
Free entry (although they do accept donations). The displays are interesting and varied, spanning a lot of Scottish and local history.
Nice place to gain some knowledge about history of highlands. Museum cover topics since prehistoric time but there is many exhibits of life just century ago.
An enjoyable visit. There was a good quality touring exhibition in the Art Gallery which was well displayed and informative. The museum has lots of interesting material about Scottish history. For a relatively small building it offers a lot and well worth a visit.
A great we couple of hour filler or an afternoon of fun history and learning. Fabulous wee museum. I have been before and I will return once more.
A bit of a hidden gem. Really worth a visit. A lot of local history and interesting exhibits. Worth repeat visits as have great visiting art exhibitions. Cafe s good place for a quiet break.
Great, clear displays. We'll annotated. Interesting stuff.
Beautiful area! The museum and art gallery are situated on a raised area which looks over the town. Great to visit for the views and pictures alone. As an attraction it's interesting for anyone that likes galleries and museums however it's on the smaller scale and doesn't really have much wow factor. I enjoyed it as I'm into these types of things but I don't think this would be for everyone. Check it out and make that decision for yourself - the good thing is, if it isn't - its situated in the town so you can leave and go shopping or grab food instead!
Really nice, local museum. Covers a wide range of history, with some lovely objects and displays.
Great to entertain the children. Puzzles and colouring to keep them busy.
A really well presented, interesting place to visit. Not just for a rainy day, it's a valuable contribution to understanding the history of Inverness.
A modest museum but worth a visit. Good cafe, too. Difficult to ignore the ugliness and inappropriateness of the building. No parking.
Gallery portion constantly changing, and always thought-provoking. Collections well-curated, and active programme of inclusive events always well worth attending. The exterior is poor-looking, but inside the staff work really hard to lift this treasure of Inverness and involve the community. Not static and staid, but worth visiting regularly! Don't forget to visit the sister Castle Viewpoint at the side of the castle while you are there, not free but well worth the £5 for spectacular views over the surrounding area. The Viewpoint is currently open 7 days a week (though reduced winter hours) as it has proved so popular.
