Gambir Train Station (Indonesian: Stasiun Gambir, station code: GMR) is a major railway station in Gambir, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. The station is located on the eastern side of Merdeka Square. It was built during the Dutch East Indian era and renovated in the 1990s.
Currently Gambir Station serves as a terminus for most intercity trains operating across Java Island. One of Jakarta's main commuter lines, the KRL Commuterline Bogor Line (to Bogor) pass through this station, but do not stop here. There are however, plans to reactivate the station as a stop for commuter, due to high volume of passenger that board and exiting from Gambir's neighboring-commuter only stations (Gondangdia and Juanda station). Originally, only executive and business class trains use Gambir Station, while all economy class trains and some executive and business class trains use Pasar Senen railway station instead. Since ca. 2016, the norm has changed when KAI introduced new types of economy class coaches in higher class trains e.g. Argo Parahyangan, in line with plans to gradually abolish business class trains.

Commuter trains pass through this station. It's the main hub station of Jakarta. It has a nice view and clean environment. The building is awesome, toilet is clean and the platform is large. Also, you can easily purchase the bus ticket outside the building.

The most sophisticated train station in Indonesia. With a lot of restaurant and equipped with many facilities, Gambir Station provided for train that board to big city such Bandung, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo and Surabaya. Located in the heart of capital, the station is clean and well-preserved.

This place has changed so much, and for the better, of course. Plenty of stores selling food and snacks for the long train trips. Plenty of stations where you can print your train tickets. This is usually the station you go when you want to take a train to Bogor, Bandung, Bekasi and other major cities in Java. Who knows, this might be the best train station in Jakarta.

Main train station in Jakarta provided for business and executive class. There is no service for commuter line train. In weekend this station is really crowded. It has some restaurant and also mini market. Ticket machine to print your boarding pass is near departure gate. Make sure you already prepare your ID card, such as KTP, SIM, or passport. Mosque is in 2nd floor.

It's usually crowded here, no wonder, this is one of the biggest train station in Indonesia. Here you will see clean, neat and big place. You also can buy many snacks and meals here to accompany your wait for your trip. Many on site staff here, so don't afraid to not get info about your train and they are so welcome to help you.

Ticket changes queue took me 2 hours almost 3 hours and just opened 2 counters, while the "Go Show" counter more idle. For the service of the BUMN class like this needs to be more improved. Better ticket service even on the night bus/private company with more more faster service with less assets.

Arguably the biggest and busiest railway station in Indonesia. It has a huge area and building. Situated in Central Jakarta, this station is supported by lots of other transportation mode. Taxi, bike taxi, bus, electrical train, etc.
