* remember to bring some plastic bag for your shoes, as you can't wear them inside. There are places to put your shoes but it's limited. * remember that male and female have separate places. * remember to wear decent clothing. Modest clothing especially for women. Although there's a clothes lending facility.

Marvelous..!! The Mosque itself is an imposing modern building. Come during Ramadan for an unforgettable experience, break the fast and pray taraweeh with thousands of worshipers. Good location easy to access, very close to all public transportation such as trains, busways and Jakarta city tour bus.

Too much crowd when I was there. It was Saturday, school holiday season, and just a day before New Year 2018. Felt like I was in a market. The image of a masjid vanished by the amount of the visitor. Many people slept and ate food in the area for prayer. What a shame!

Biggest mosque in Asean. You can come here for pray or just take a short trip. Every time have a lot of muslim prayer. Come here and ask for guidance from the mosque staff if you need assistance. From here you can take free tour bus around jakarta with destination to the old city. Or other destination until the welcome statue next to the historical hotel, hotel indonesia.

Not the most beautiful mosque I've seen so far, but magnificent in size, being the biggest south-east Asia and third largest Sunni mosque in term of capacity. Sheer number of people in and around the building can be overwhelming and watch out for women trying to sell plastic bags for your shoes. As you get inside you feel very welcome, even as a non-muslim. People smile at you and ask to take photographs with you. At the visitors counter the employees supply you with robes, we didn't need to cover our hair. You are allowed to the viewing gallery, not on the floor itself, but it is enough to see the imposing copper dome and observe people at daily prayers.

This mosque is one of the symbols of Indonesia and Jakarta. Istiqlal Mosque as a symbol of religious tolerance which characterizes Indonesia. It's a pretty big mosque. Located in Jakarta, next to Merdaka Square and the Jakarta Cathedral, Masjid Istiqlal (Istiqlal or Independence Mosque) is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and has the highest capacity with around 120k worshippers. It was built to commemorate Indonesian independence. The mosque was opened in 1978. It has a different structure than the classical mosque architecture. The mosque has a large rectangular prayer hall with a 45 meter diameter dome supported by 12 round columns, and has 4 levels of balconies. Its interior is mostly simple. The mosque was designed by Frederich Silaban, a Christian architect from North Sumatra.

The biggest mosque that give many lessons to us. The ladies bathroom and wudhu's place was in the ground floor and a little bit slippery. But the sholat place was start from first floor. The parking lot was so wide. There is a library and school for children behind the mosque. The mosque was clean and it has organize ventilation. Also, there was small museum that you can read in every frame about Istiqlal's history.

Mesjid terbesar di Indonesia... gedee bangeeet... mantabh. Adem. Sejuk. Pokoknya top markotob. Biasanya banyam yg jualan makanan enak2... mampir mampir mampir. Musti ke sini kalo lg di indonesia yaa. Tepatnya di jakarta pusat. Dekat monas. Dekat dengan gedung2 pemerintahan. Ciri khas muslim di indonesia ya istiqlal. Islam itu indah

It's a historical grand Mosque which built in Soekarno Era, unique design, created by Christian Architect... Nice and comfortable place to pray, don't forget to keep the place clean, tidy and do not make a noise inside the Mosque while others praying.. Bring your family or colleagues here to learn the development of Islamic religion in Indonesia and to encourage other to pray at the mosque...

The national mosque of Indonesia. It was designed by one of Indonesian early architects, F. Silaban. The building offers modern look and the magnificent scale. There are no doors, but you should notice that in several areas you need to take off your shoes. It is open for public, but do respect the people in pray.

Try to come on the night, and go to the open space on the west of the mosque. There you can see Monas tower with beautiful light. Lay down on the floor. Look at the sky and you will see how beatiful the world Allah swt has created. Very big mosque. Need more intense maintenance on the ground floor, especially at ablution areas and toilets.

The marble-clad mosque which is the largest in size in Southeast Asia is actually designed by a Christian; Friedrich Silaban. Visit the grounds and witness first hand the grandeur of the 45m-diameter ornate dome from the inside.

You wont see this kind of picture often, cause I was pretty lucky to be able to witness this colorful mass prayer, it was the weekend before fasting month. The place is huge! I went there 3 times already now, one time I went there with sort of local tour. Another two times, I became the guide for my friends who hadn't been there. That other two times, one of the staff asked for a tip. So maybe you should prepare some tip even if they don't help you with anything. You also can't wear anything that shows a lot of skin, male or female cant wear shorts nor tank tops. Though you dont have to cover your hair for female.

The Grand Mosque of Indonesia. Or perhaps South East Asia. Tried to pick a different angle of how services done on order to keep the prayers solemness and how visitors may offer some help. Despite the latest renovation, i still found the site with trashes almost in every corners. Some people even smoking just aside of the main praying halls... Not to mention those food sellers flocked and liteally blocks all vehicle by standing there right in front of your car/bike. Sadly, it resembles the quality of the people, to som extent. Wish the management could drive stronger enforcement into the cleanliness and solemness.

MashaaAllah.. the building itself its so magnificent no wonder it's stated to be the biggest mosque in Indonesia. I myself get confortable while pray inside this beautiful mosque. You can still visit it even if you're not a muslem. Just don't forget to wear something covered
