Selamat Datang Monument (Selamat Datang is Indonesian for "Welcome"), also known as the Monumen Bundaran HI or Monumen Bunderan HI ( for 'Hotel Indonesia roundabout'), is a monument located in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. Completed in 1962 by sculptor Edhi Sunarso, the Selamat Datang Monument is one of the historic landmarks of Jakarta.
During the 1960s, President Sukarno ordered several constructions and city beautification projects in preparation for the Asian Games IV. These activities included the construction of the Ikada Sport Complex (in what is now Gelora Bung Karno Sport Complex) and several statues, including the Selamat Datang Monument, designated as Tugu Selamat Datang.

We went to Jakarta for the 2017/2018 New Year and this monument is the place to be.. The area is closed to all traffic and 1000's and 1000's of people congregate to watch the fireworks and cheer in the new year. The atmosphere was fantastic. Indonesian people are so friendly. We set of some fireworks, watched a live show on the stage and wandered around soaking in the atmosphere. I would say that this is the best event NYE experience that I have ever had. We attended the Pullman NYE party which is right next door. Soon at we counted out 2017 we walked into the street and watched all the fireworks. Absolutely fantastic experience.

Jakarta's famous landmark, everything you can find in this roundabout. Best time to visit is 6.00 am, on Sunday car free day. Best place to celebrate new year eve, many people come to see fireworks.

Visited the square in the rain. The statue is magnanimous! The surrounding streets are beautiful too and it was a pleasure walking down these paved streets.

Not sure what to write. You can see this monument when you drive around it. Not sure if you can stop in front of the monument.

This place is so nice by night. During daytime its too much traffic, its too crowded to enjoy the buildings, the statue and the whole place.

I was working at Pullman hotel which is located in front of this monument. What i can say is the best spot view in jakarta by night. The fountain is surrounded by luxury hotels, shopping center and famous skyscrapers. If u want to enjoy the view more, u can cross the street and go to Skye Bar Lounge at Menara BCA 56th floor. U can see the whole jakarta from the top.

The monument located at the center of the city and the statue representing warmest welcome to all visitors from the peoples of Indonesia, not merely the Jakarta Metro City citizen. During the Sunday Car Freeday event, this area and along the Sudirman Avenue were crowded by peoples who play, sport, sight-seeing, walk, leasure, and shopping, but they are distracted by Trans Jakarta Buses those still operated in this area. Sometime, peoples interupted by motor cycles and tuk-tuk passed across in the crowd
