An old and magnificant church. A very good design exterior but quite simple at the interior and the altar. A very cozy place for pray, especially at the morning. And it will be beetter and more comfortable if this church provide an AC because the weather of Jakarta is pretty hot.
Beautiful, well-preserved gothic Catholic church that has an undeniable European feel. Right across the Istiqlal mosque, this cathedral is definitely a must-visit when you're in Jakarta. Peaceful atmosphere, perfect for self-reflection and prayer. Pro-tip : come during the weekdays ( Mon - Thurs) to avoid bad traffic. Avoid Fridays as the streets will fully packed from Friday prayer crowds.
It's a nice church, but it needs more staff on early mornings. I've been to that church several times and there was no choir available at 6:00 am in the morning. It's a bit dissapointing but it's still a beautiful cathedral located in jakarta, and it's near to one of the famous hotel there. I hope that they can keep preserving this cathedral so that it can still operate.God bless
It's historical yet beautiful sacred old building. Many shady trees and also blooms in the yard will refresh your sight. Air conditioner is installed inside this gorgeous church so you don't have to be upset about being sweaty 🤣 come and feel the devine serenity! God bless u!
Nice Cathedral in front of the Grand Mosque, not easy to cross the streets ! No red lights, and JAKARTA is not pedestrian friendly... The National Monument is not far also
I accompanied my friends from Denmark and German to go in there. It's European architecture I would say: beautiful, some gothic style, modern. Parking lot is big enough. One way big street area. The traffic is not really bad.
In stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the Istiqlal mosque across the street this Christian church is a quiet and cool place, perfect to calm your thoughts. Completed in 1901 in Neo-Gothic style it was designed by architect Antonius Dijkmans. The interior less imposing than exterior.
This cathedral is located right across the Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta. It was built in the neo-gothic style. The interior is simple with beautiful wooden ceilings.
I came here with my friend, even though we are different religions, clean environment makes me comfortable and I a visit to mosque istiqlal to do my duty as muslim
This is good church and its architecture is so european. The most well known church in jakarta
The feeling you have walked into Catholic Europe in the heart of Jakarta. At noon, the cathedral bells fuse with the call to prayer from the giant mosque across the road. So Indonesian 👍
I am loving the vibes inside the Cathedral. It is silent and peaceful. With that being said, silent your phone and make sure your camera's click sound is off in order to not bothering the others.
One of the local gem. A neo-gothic architecture church with outstanding modern steel brass towers, was built during the colonial era. It's now the central of Indonesian Catholic Church.
Pulled over a moment long time ago, just curious what happened inside. Sitting and adoratio . Just a big building with netherland architect touchings. Seem likes this church on majorities hands.
This is the center of The Archdiocese of Jakarta. The church has a beautiful, stunning classic architecture masterpiece in the middle of Jakarta that will amaze you about how beautiful the place is. The interior and exterior of the building is awesome, even the interior has been air conditioned, so you will not get uncomfortable because of the weather in Jakarta. This place is also special because you can see several pipe organs that really old but well maintained. At the front part of the interior you will see The Pieta and if you go to the left part you will see a statue of Mary, Mother of All Races - Bunda Segala Suku (it is unique!). The parking lots are quite huge but for the great facts, it is also used as parking lots for Moslems that want to pray at Istiqlal Mosque on a special occasions, such as Ied. Outside the church you can go to a book store, Museum of Cathedral, a St. Mary's Grotto. The place is easily accessed by public transportation such as train and Transjakarta (close to Juanda Train Station and a Transjakarta shelter just northwest of the cathedral).
Artistic church from Holland reign in Indonesia. Normally used for weekly mass, but in weekdays you still can go inside to pray or take pictures. There's a little museum beside the church. Free admission. You just have to write down your name in the guest book. Inside you can find the history of the church. And there's Maria cave to pray just beside of the church office. 10/10 would come back. (for pray or take pictures)
This catholic church has a great atmosphere, it's so chilly, silent, and peaceful. The architecture is so beautiful, this place is also great for taking photos. I love this place :D
The Church of Our Lady of Assumption). This current cathedral was consecrated in 1901 and built in the neo-gothic style, a common architectural style to build churches at that time. The Jakarta Cathedral is located in Central Jakarta near Merdeka Square and Merdeka Palace, it stands right in the front of the Istiqlal Mosque.
