Vihara Dharma Bhakti, also known as 金德院 (Mandarin Jīn dé yuàn or Hokkien Kim Tek Ie), is a klenteng (a local term for a Chinese temple) located in the China Town neighborhood of Glodok, Jakarta, Indonesia. Completed in 1650, Vihara Dharma Bhakti is the oldest Chinese temple in Jakarta.
The complex of Vihara Dharma Bhakti was erected in 1650 under the order of Luitenant der Chinezen Kwee Hoen. The temple was named Kwan Im Teng in Hokkien or Guānyīn tíng in Mandarin (觀音亭), literally "Pavilion of Guanyin", to honor Kwan Im whom the temple is dedicated to. The name Kwan Im Teng is the origin of the word klenteng itself, later becoming a general term in the Indies to refer to any Chinese place of worship.
Under renovation , all deity has moved out at the hall. Very small temple and nothing interesting on it.

I think they should hire people to guide tourists so the tourists could get to know more about this historical place.

This place is actually a compound of temples for either Chinese traditional belief, Mahayana Buddhism, and Taoism. There are 4 main buildings with different name and dedicated for different entities, mostly from Taoism. The biggest one is also called Vihara Dharma Bhakti or 金德院 (lit.: Court of The Golden Virtue), but I more prefer to call it "Kelenteng" for its distinguish characteristics. The renovation and rebuilding process after catching fire in 2015 are still on progress, while some survived artifacts and statues already relocated for security reason.

A praying place of chinese people around chinatown (pecinan) in jakarta. It's open for public but if you go there you should respect the ritual too.

One of the oldest temple in Jakarta. It attracts many tourist & locals for it's beauty. Such a shame that in 2015 it was caught on fire :(. Nonetheless, it is still a beautiful place.

There is a wet and dry market on the small alley road leading towards the temple, a lot of interesting things to see. The temple itself is very historical and it is currently under preservation construction however one can still enjoy the temple and pay their respects to the gods. Entrance is free but feel free to donate a small sum in the donation box to help preserve the temple.

A really nice temple. Reminds me of Chinese culture very much. A place to visit when you are in Jakarta. Open for all, and you can come in, whether you want to pray or not. The environment is so clean, many smoke too (yeah because many prayer use hio), but I don’t think that’s a really big problem here. A little bit history, several years ago, fire burned down almost entire building of this temple, but now this temple already have its renovation. Almost brand new again.

Rather tricky to get there. You have to ask the direction to many people. But, there is the art isn't it?
