The Singapore Zoo, formerly known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens or Mandai Zoo, is a 28 hectares (69 acres) zoo located on the margins of Upper Seletar Reservoir within Singapore's heavily forested central catchment area. Opened in 1973, the zoo was built at a cost of $9 million that was granted by the government of Singapore.
It is operated by the Mandai Wildlife Group, which also manages the neighbouring Night Safari, River Wonders, the Jurong Bird Park as well as the forthcoming Rainforest Wild Park. All five parks makes up the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, which consists of more than 15,000 animals from 1,000 species. Within the zoo, there are about 315 species of animals, of which some 16 percent are considered to be a threatened species. The zoo attracts over 2 million visitors every year.
Great place for learning and playing. My kids love this place so much because so many animals that we can see in here. In an area, we can touch birds, squirrel, duck.. There is small water park that make my kids very happy. Need full 1 day for exploring all the area. By riding the tram, we can take a rest for a while😁😁..

There is a good reason that this has earned the reputation of "best zoo" it's brilliant! The animals have loads of room to roam around and a lot of them were basically roaming around (not the Tigers though so don't worry). The elephant show was cool and they seemed to be well treated. The range of animals was great with good events such as feeding times with a guide telling you about the animals. We had a great time in 1/2 a day but wish we had had a whole day!

Singapore Zoo is exciting and a very fun place. Kids love the outdoors, animals, rides and specially pony rides. One of the best kept and cleanest zoo in the world. A must visit place. Stroller rental is available for kids that makes life hell lot easier. We loved the dinosaur theme park was so realistic. Very clean and tidy, toilets and rest rooms, kids changing rooms are all well kept and maintained

Singapore zoo is a little bit out of the city, but well worth the trip. Would recommend avoiding weekends and other holidays because it can get very busy. There are so many things to explore at the zoo, including a number of walk through enclosures. It is well equipped with good facilities such as bathrooms and water bottle refilling stations. Would highly recommend to everyone.

One of the best activities in Singapore - went with my kids - we had a fun time - one of best zoos in the world as well. Clean and Tidy. Elephant 🐘 Show is the feather to the Crown, don't miss it. Safari Show is another fun-time as well. There are animal feedings too. It's worth for the money spent, a whole day time with family. Anytime we can visit Zoo in the future. Thanks to the Staffs for making it a wonderful spot in Singapore.

Very nice zoo, can tram if you want to around the park. But to be honest if you don't mind the weather I would walk. You see so much more and can take your time. Some of the viewing rooms are air-conditioned some just have fans. There is also plenty of room to get a look in. While walking around always look up the orangutans roam free and sometimes need to go, if you know what I mean. :)

Good size zoo with plenty to see amazing when the Apes climb right across the roads above you on rope swings. the polar bear enclosure was very interesting as well as the other exhibits. Good sized restaurant with plenty of variety a mix of both European and Asian foods. one thing not to miss is the night safari.

Singapore Zoo offers visitors an enchanting experience with the wild life we don’t normally see in our region. From lions to polar bears, elephants to reptiles, Singapore Zoo has a wide variety of animals which makes this a great place for family outing. There is also a train ride which goes on a specific route to take visitors to a predestined spot so don’t worry about the walking distance! However, sometimes I personally feel that by walking along the pathway provided and stopping whenever you feel like to look at the animals or just to enjoy the nature, is in itself, another kind of enjoyment. All information regarding the animals shows, food and refreshments areas is available in their compact yet informative leaflet. Be sure to bring along a couple of bottled water and insect repellent along to ensure a smooth and hydrated trip at the Singapore Zoo.

Haven't been to a Zoo in a long time, but I'd heard many good things about Singapore zoo and it lived up to what I'd heard and read. Lots to see and do and good for all sorts. Families, couples and individuals. There is so much to see it's almost worth taking the whole day. Easy to get tjere by taxi if you don't mind paying or you can catch a train then bus which takes a little longer. Places to eat there are also reasonably priced. Yes some of the animals were sleeping but it's a Zoo and the animals are there for a reason and shouldn't be expected to put on a show for each and every individual. Great place and I would go back again for sure.

This is a great zoo. I saw animals I did not know existed. We had the good fortune to see a show about the rain forest fitting back. The birds that had been trained were simply amazing. They have a white tiger and he has blue eyes. I was really impressed by the zoo design. The animals although captive seemed to have comfortable surroundings

It's very well organized, animals seem to have enough space to go around. The staff is helpful and kind. We were bringing our 11 months infant to live see the animals we have showed him in books, so we were very excited about it. We had breakfast with the orangutans ($35 per adult), and while I had different idea in mind (treetop sitting area, enclosed but near the animals) it was a good experience. There was a very cute baby orangutan within the family, which reminded me the animals have been trained to sit there and eat while people took photos in front of them. The presentation was informative and is clear that their focus is teaching the need to protect the animals and their environment. After some walking we got to the Elephant ant play and work area, with plenty of time to sit at a nice spot (it really gets crowded). Everything was fine until the animator starts and decides to scream! Our baby panicked in a way we hadn't seen before and broke in years. The guy kept making extremely loud noises (even though the audio system works week and there are speakers everywhere), so unfortunately we had to leave. We continued the walk around, but given the previous experience, avoided the shows. The white Rino' at the beginning seemed to be fake (plastic) as they stood still for some seconds until they ears move :). The chimpanzees play area is very nice, and you can see how playful and strong they are. Overall a good experience, but don't think the shows have small kids in mind.

Singapore Zoo is really a great place to visit. Lots of animals and very organized and clean. Timings are around 8:30-6pm. The zoo area to cover can take even 6hrs if you are an animal lover. Lots to walk so carry a cap, Sunscreen and water. There are many shows which have certain timings do check them in advance and be there half an hr before to get decent seating. (bird, elephant show many others) The night safari is worth the wait. Can see animals well and with good distance, there is a mini train which you take and that stops at many places in the zoo and then you can visit the animals in that area.

It is a great place for people of all ages. Very beautifully laid out. Amazingly a wide collection of animals and a nice walk around the zoo. There is provision for tram train rides around the zoo. There are certain specific shows at certain times of the day. You may visit the website to check those timings and plan your outing there. The monkeys seems to be roaming and swinging freely on the trees. The reptile section is quite interesting. For a thorough look and leisure outing, it will take half a day or so. There is a food court inside the zoo for a quick bite and to refresh yourself. There are feeding time for birds and animals for a certain fee at specific times, so it is good to check the website. The baboons have a huge area and they seem to have a kingdom of their own. It is really worth visiting and having an outing there with family and friends.

Very good for kids as one would expect. Best part was that few friendly animals and birds roam around freely between people on walkways and they don’t intimidate or anything but don’t bother them as well and give hem space, just enjoy them walking around. There is also a river safari by the side of it which also has sea animals and Koala and Panda etc. Panda was the best attraction here as one could see them resting and eating etc., closely! Go early if possible. It would take 7 hours easily to have a look at leisure! Best value for money when taken as part of Park Hopper ticket that includes 4 parks.

Singapore Zoo is one of the best zoo's in the world and is highly acclaimed. A visit to the zoo is a good break away from the hustle and bustle of city life and different experience away from the glitz and glamour of Orchard Road. A must visit for a family with kids. Begin the day early as there is a lot of walking around. The zoo itself is beautifully laid out and is amazing experience. The zoo follows a open zoo format where all the animals are without any cages and roam around freely in their carefully created natural habitat yet it's is safe as there are well designed moats around. It is fantastic to connect with nature and watch the lions, tigers, cheetahs, zebras roaming freely. There are animal shows which are not to be missed. Hop on to trams in case you don't feel like walking all the way. The food court allows one to take a break and refresh. The Amazon jungle adventure and boat ride is a good attraction. The giant panda and the Red panda are a must visit. Great place to get some amazing photographs with good camera and tripod. A day well spent at the Singapore Zoo makes the trip most memorable and enjoyable!

We went to the zoo with our 3 year old. I must admit that we all three enjoyed all the shows. Please plan and ensure attend all the shows. There are lot to do in the zoo. Easily you should be able to spend 6 hours to cover everything. But we skipped the children's water park. Negative: The only thing which we didn't like is the photos they are taking. In each place they are quoting different prices and I really don't trust them. Rather take your own pics.

The place is great. First off the transportation going to the place is nice. There are a lot of options on how to get there. Secondly, the place is so clean and well maintained. There were a few food shops in the vicinity which serves some local foods and western ones. Third, the place is really good for exploration and field trips, the animals were kept in a very descent enclosure which somehow ressembles their natural habitat and are properly taken cared of. I just hope they would add some more attractions when i go back to visit again.
