Truly love this place, there was very little people when we went. So had the opportunity to spend time reading each and every thing in the museum. It is just heartbreaking of what Ukrainian troops are going through in the east of the country. The employees of the museum are very helpful and kind, unlike in other places where they just don't help us with anything. So recommended totally when you are in Kiev.

The museum has a TON of fantastic material, truly amazing. I would spend hours in it if I could, but most of the captions are not translated to English. The staff didn't seem to speak English either, and the guy at the gate was expecting to get a tip from people before opening the doors, it was so bad that one of the Ubers we requested had to leave because the guy at the door wouldn't let him through

Located under the Motherland Monument a big museum with a lot of material special from the WW2 time. Since the Monument is a place to go Kiev I would recommend visiting the museum if you have the time. In winter you are only available to go to the platform in the middle of the statue for extra money, but if the temperatures are above 5°-10° you can get up behind the shield.

Impressive museum under the motherland sculpture. Full of history, full of feelings. The exhibition shows a high patriotic viewpoint. Worth visiting.

My knowledge of world history is cursory at best, and as I was walking here with friends, I imagined I'd be either bored out of my mind or simply hate it. What ended up happening was that I realised more than ever before how real everything had been. That it wasn't all just black and white photographs of airplanes and tanks. The museum does a great job of putting you, in a way, in the middle of everything. I don't speak Russian or Ukrainian, so most of the actual informational content wasn't accessible (sadly, most things didn't seem to be available in English), save for my friends translating, but from the photos, and murals, and artefacts, you can still get a very powerful vibe. They have an entire hall whose walls are covered in photos of people who fought. And even knowing that's a small subset, it's still overwhelming. Finally, they have a few exhibits on their more recent troubles, which once again drive home the point that it's not all statistics and maps. Living in Western Europe in a time of peace, it's all too easy to forget. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Kiev.

A well maintained place with a deep connection to previous wars and freedom struggles of Ukraininan People. Entry charge is 10 UAH and then you have access to the gallery. Seeing all these artifacts make me wonder the great struggle Ukraine had to have it's own independence. A must visit place to know the deep rooted feeling of independence in hearts of Ukrainian people.

Pretty big exhibition. Very interesting. Numerous personal belongings, photos, equipment, documents, maps make this museum really impressive. Unfortunately we had only one hour to review the artifacts though I am sure two or more hours can be easily spent there reviewing details of these dark pages of human history. Will definitely return there in future.

Very impressive war museum, much bigger than it appears from the outside. We had an English speaking guide who was very knowledgeable and explained all the exhibits. The exhibits themselves are very impressive and sobering and you can get close and touch lots of them.

One of the best war museums I've ever visited. It's huge and the exhibits are impressively diverse. There is a small entrance fee and fee for photos. Bathrooms are relatively clean and a coat room is available (usually useful during winter). I was here with my family who was able to explain and translate in English but if you wish to have a guided tour, you can request for one.

What an amazing museum on Ukraine's part in world war 2 wonderful displays and visuals. Walking you through the start of the war tilo the end. Also an exhibit on the more modern fighting going on in the East of Ukraine with the Russians. One of the best WW2 museums I've ever been in.

Could have used a whole day there. Info up to date, including current war in Donetsk. Nazi and USSR occupations most interesting. Recommend getting the available English speaking guides.

It was a really great museum. There were tanks and artillery as well as other combat vehicles. You can find most of the Soviet war machines there and you can even climb on top of some. I really enjoyed my time there and it is a must see for people who enjoy history. I will definitely visit this place again in the future

Definitely this is the best museum I have ever visited. War history in such a creatively prepared space. Exposition is breathtaking, everything is just great. There is only one disadvantage. Everything is written in ukrainian language and signs, so if you can not read it, you are done. My experience was to pay a guide. We spent there six and half hours together listening to stories about war, he was translating everything for us. Just perfect experience! Totally recommend! Must see in Kyiv (if you have at least 6 free hours to spend in museum).

Really elaborate representation of the world war and some other parts of the Ukrainian history. Well equipped with audio guides, toured guides in several languages. The best museum in Kiev in my opinion.
