This is definitely a trap for tourists. I was out walking and saw this church and thought for myself to make a visit. An old woman nearby the stairs told me to by a ticket in the Box Office – 10 UAH, not a big deal! I bought the ticket, showed the same woman the ticket and walked up the stairs. Walked around the church and watched the view from the platform. Then I should enter the church it was closed – renovation! This woman who sell tickets to a closed church is the same kind of thugs as a lots of taxidrivers in Ukraine are – they fools, they cheat tourist and more. This people hurt this country with their behavior. I asked the woman why they sell tickets to a closed church, she just shacking her shoulders, walked away to other tourists – probably with the same info as I received the first time I saw her. 10 UAH is not much, but the behavior is cheap, its low. If they sad instead that the church is closed, but if you wanted to donate the entrancefee for the renovation it had been better. So next time I will first ask if the church is open or not before I pay the entrancefee. This happens 6 September 2017.

After years of construction works on the outside you now can go up to the church to enjoy the view, but not enter the church inside.

One of the symbols of Kyiv. Very beautiful, unusually painted Orthodox church. As of early 2018 is still on restoration, however the outside part of the works seems to have been completed. There's an observation deck around the church building that offers an excellent view of the local part of the city and the left bank of Dnipro river. Entry ticket costs 10 UAH.

Beautifully situated atop a hill. The path behind it is lovely for a peaceful morning stroll, with a lookout down to the river. Several artists had their paintings on display for sale on the weekend.

One of the most interesting and picturesque temples in Kyiv. Unusual construction and location gave it an impressive view over a great part of the city. This place is a must-see (and take pictures at) for all tourists.

This is a very beautiful baroque church built in the 18th century. This church has one of the best panoramic views of the city, and in my opinion it’s one of the “must see” points in Kiev. Ticket costs only 20 UAH (you can buy it in front of the church). The church itself isn’t big, it is now under renovation and it was not possible to see it from inside. But the walk around with all the fascinating views at the city is totally worth the visit. I would recommend to go there when weather is good, so you can enjoy the scenery better.

Picturesque view of Podil and Dnipro river from view point around the church. The church itself is one the most beautiful in Kyiv. Worth visiting definitely.

Another one of the gorgeous churches of Kiev, though this one is a museum now. We didn't go in, so no info how interesting the museum is, but it takes a pretty picture. The street down on the left side of the church is also interesting. Lots of little stalls that sell all sorts of souvenirs. And walk towards the park to find a some art sellers. Not all paintings are great, but there were some really nice ones to be found

Saint Andrew's Church was built in honor of Saint Andrew who is recognized as the "Apostle of Rus". According to the chronicle The Tale of Bygone Years, Saint Andrew came to the Dnieper (Dnipro) river's slopes in the 1st century AD and erected a cross on the current location of the church. He prophesied that the sparsely inhabited area would become a great city. As he predicted, the site arose to become the city of Kiev, a center of the Eastern Orthodox faith. In 1086, the Grand Prince of Kiev Vsevolod Iconstructed a small church, dedicated to the erection of the cross by Saint Andrew. In 1215, Prince Mstyslav of Halych built the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross nearby. However, the church did not survive after the Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus' in 1240. From that point after, wooden churches were constructed in the place where the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross had been located, although, were too destroyed and again replaced with another one. In 1690, a wooden church consecrated to Saint Andrew was moved from the Brethren's cloister in the Podil to the Andriyivsky Mount. It too did not last long, only until 1726, when it was pulled down.
