Really special place and everyone must visit this market at Christmas time I went around 8th of December and it was shoulder to Shoulder. So I don’t know the best time in December is where it’s not so packed but the smells and the mulled wine got me hooked instantly loved it.
Most happening place in Cologne. Lots of restaurants. Must try Kolsch which is available only in Cologne. More food options. Spend more time here...very near to Kóln main railway station. Plenty of shopping malls.
A central place right beside the town hall with its historic tower (must see). Here you'll find a lot of historic buildings and also a lot of stories to hear about (see plates on buildings). Best to get all the information on a guided tour. Cologne cathedral is only two "walking" minutes away. The ancient roman town hall "Praetorium" is just around the corner.
A nice sized public square in Cologen near to Great St Martin Church in the old part of Cologne. It is just off the Rhine River. The old market is the location for probably the best Christmas Market in Cologne during the Christmas season. The Christmas Market has an ice-rink and all the German treats you tend to find at Christmas Markets. The market itself is surrounded by several pubs and restaurants so if you are looking for food in the area, that shouldn't be a problem. Highly recommend visiting during the Christmas Market period.
started as the old Roman Port, to the old town market. Beautiful buildings and cafes. not far from the river walk.
Excellent time at the Christmas market in Nov/Dec '17. Beautiful little market with some lovely stalls. Will definitely be going back.
I was being a tourist in Cologne and it was incredible walking around here. The age of everything blew my mind (my country is still a baby). Highly recommend. Check out the fountain of the woman that destroyed Cologne and walk through the cathedral to see the golden box filled with the "Three Kings'" remains. Have a bite to eat at any of the bakeries around.
