Simply amazing! Let me tell you how we really appreciated this restaurant restaurant in Siem Reap. We had been traveling across Asia for a two weeks now. Siem Reap will be one of our best destinations and this restaurant even made it even better. We got tired of the usual noodles and local dishes so we opted to treat ourselves. We then decided to try Georges restaurant and we are glad we tried. We were welcomed by the friendly staff, served us the welcome drinks and they were friendly. They gave us the menu and they were not very pushy. I decided to have the creole sausages where as my wife had the vegetarian sausages.Everything was perfect! Georges came to our table and greeted us. Had a chat and was very friendly. Our cocktails were made by Sarith and it was Delicious! Georges gave us a distillery tour and explained more about the rums. We are glad we wen there to dine. Not only we had free rum tasting at the end of the dinner but we had also a chance to know more about rums at the distillery showroom.
This was a nice change of pace from Khmer food. We saved the free run reading for dessert, which was quite nice. The food was very good but not great compared to other Western food that we had in the area. The sausages and chicken were quite good but missing the wow factor for me. Didn't try the samosas but they looked excellent. Prices reasonably $8 to $14 for mains, for this quality of restaurant. The owner was extremely friendly.
George's son manages the restaurant and it's creole heritage can't be argued with, epitomised by the warm welcome we received! Free tasters of rum literally mean every single one on the shelf and everything is prepared and served with kindness. We had the cheese and chutney starters (again, free to try beforehand) and samosas - both delicious. The sausage and mash is also fantastic (creole style)! Would definitely come back.
What a nice surprise to discover a Rum Distillery when entering the restaurant! A warm welcome takes me to discover a wide range of flavors. Rum, wines, dishes inspired by world cuisine with French know-how. The service, the quality, the balance of the dishes, everything is perfectly mastered. You can bring home some home made rum with different flavors too. Cinnamon, ginger and french fusion to mention some.
Great food, drinks and staff We booked ahead through the website as heard it was popular. Given coconut rum on arrival which was a nice touch and really tasty! Tried 5 cocktails all of which were amazing using their own in house rum. Starter, main courses and dessert were fantastic and having the chef present each main was great. The jams and chutneys which came with each course really complimented the dishes - all of which you can buy after if you want. The staff were attentive, helpful in answering our questions and clearly liked their jobs when offering tastings of the rums - of which we had plenty! The courses are amazing value for the quality given and a fraction of what you’d spend in the West. All in all would recommend for a great meal and different to anything we’ve experienced in Asia after two months of travelling.
