A great outing. I recommend booking online for the best price tickets and shorter queues. My year old loved it but she understood it was all pretend and trying to be scary, some older children were scared when we visited so judge it on your own child. If they are nervous and scare easily it might not be for them.

Absolutely brilliant, worth every penny. Very atmospheric and pretty creepy. Take my hat off to the actors, it has been said before but they really do throw themselves into their roles. Loved it and would definitely recommend 😀

Brilliant! Went here on 30 Dec. The show was fab, actors and set were ace. Very involving and scary in places. Kids loved it too. Staff were great throughout. I Recommend as a great family outing but not for small kids. Our 8 year old daughter was fine but stayed close to me for the whole duration.

Not what I expected. When I was a kid you would go to these places and it would be like a museum with all manner of torture instruments out for display with wax figures making up staged scenes of torture. Expect none of that. This is more of an immerse experience as actors play out various scenarios covering different subjects and eras, all inolving you the audience. My son really enjoyed it.

Got picked on by the actors in each of the historic time piece rooms. Loved it. They have fun at your expense, a living historic reaccount of York's history squashed into under an hour. Laughs and scares abound. Still makes me laugh a few months later

A brilliant place to take the kids! An absolutely fantastic experience and very entertaining! The staff here go above and beyond to include you into the performance and really do work extremely hard! It wasn't what I expected, it was way better than anything I ever imagined! Well worth the money and it actually teaches you a lot about the history of the dungeons. If you're in York, then make sure you book time in to go round the dungeons... It's fantastic!!!

An excellent attraction, very amusing. The staff play their roles really well. The humour was quite adult in parts so may not really be suitable for children of a certain age. However, lots of surprises at most levels which caused a lot of hilarity but could have done with being slightly shorter, it was about 90 mins which was beginning to become a problem with aching joints with us oldies. All in all though, a must see attraction.

Enjoyed the visit here the people all put loads of effort in and it's really jumpy at times without being stupidly scary. Some of it seemed to go on a bit too much and seemed like they were trying too hard but didn't detract overall. Bit pricey but good fun all in all would be especially good for bigger groups and older kids

Great fun for kids and adults! Visited with my girlfriend at the time and really enjoyed the history, characters and scenes. A truly authentic experience of York's history.

Wonderfully orchestrated, fantastically performed, thrilling experience, with a touch of humour. Worth buying tickets on line for the discount, even it's last minute (though there is just one queue). It is still expensive, but I can understand why. They advise for over 8s, I think it's hard to put an age on how youngsters will react though. Some of the corridors are cold, for effect, some of the rooms are really warm under the lights, pair that with a nervous sweat and you'll need to dress appropriately. The group photos they take at the start and sell at the end are good, the gift shop at the end is well stocked and includes a small bar. We joined the queue just before 1200, and exited the venue at about 1345

Really enjoyed my experience here. The actor's were very good in each room we were ushered into. Be prepared to be picked as a volunteer in any spooky room you visit. Good props. Also liked the gift shop & we bought photos that are taken when you first walk in. Great attraction.

A journey through history and time which is also fun with both friends and family. Great staff who are committed to the role and educational too. Steep prices when it comes to purchasing a photo towards the end but it didn't take anything away from the experience itself. Highly recommended!

The little brother to the London dungeon and it’s noticeable. If this is your first Merlin dungeon you will love it and it’ll get better as you go to new ones. The issue is going to this one last as it is definitely not as good as London and Berlin’s. In a good central location and easy to find great little gift shop and not as outlandishly priced as usual attractions are.

Great place, very informative and mostly historically accurate. Great place to bring kids as long as they won't get too scared! Very interactive but they can't involved everyone so try to go in small groups if you want everyone to have a go. Doesn't have a ride like the London Dungeons which is acceptable as it is not as big. Gift shop is a bit pricey.

A fantastic attraction that is well worth a visit. A brilliantly put together show with a few scares and some humour. The staff really do give it their all and it really shows. Be prepared to be asked as a volunteer, I was but I had a laugh. A wonderful place to visit and kudos to the staff as they really do make the place what it is.

I visited here with my brother and partner last week and thought it was absolutely brilliant! I didn't know what to expect but I thought the actors were just brilliant! Scared me to death at times, and didn't help that my brother nominated me for any tasks! It was such a great activity and massive credit to the actors. They really made you feel like yours was the only tour that day. Well done!

Great attraction!! Love the history of it all. Actors are amazing and the stories are Great!! We was in a group with a few cheeky/chatty pre teen lads. Things like that can spoil the experience a little but the actors soon sort them out 😂 overall great
