Very family welcome. Staff seemed to enjoy their work. Guide Steve was informative and friendly. Each section was done in good manner, enjoyed the way that the story of how the families of chocolate came was explained. Won't say more so not to spoil. Steve's explanation of the process of how we get coco & chocolate was enjoyable. Had the chance to make our own chocolate lolly to take away with us 😁 and shown how to make filled chocolate by choclatier Chelsea was great... even better when we got to try some. Great couple of hours

Nice experience! The guide was lovely and very helpful. In the first part there is the story of York as a chocolate producer city and you also get to taste chocolate! in the second part there is an explanation about how chocolate is made (and also an activity to produce your own chocolate lollipop!). It is perfect for kids but pretty enjoyable also for adults, even if explanations are a little bit too basic

The York Chocolate Story experience sits above a fairly impressive chocolate shop. The experience itself gives you lots of interesting information about the history of the Chocolate and of course free samples! You're taught how chocolate is made and the tour is finished with creating a chocolate lolly. It was quite fun but mainly aimed at kids. It's worth checking out on a rainy Sunday afternoon that's for sure :-)

Sam was a wonderful host and full of knowledge about everything Chocolate and the history of chocolate in York. Sam was entertaining and enthusiastic...which is something I like in a long tour because it keeps the topics interesting. The chocolate at the end of the tour was amazing and something which I will probably never taste again as the chocolate was made fresh there and then. If you like history and chocolate I would definitely recommend the tour. For the price, it's well worth it. The store also has a wide selection of different and weird flavour chocolates.

Had a really good time, the tour was interactive and interesting. Our tour guide was Alfie and he was fantastic, really made the tour come to life. Full of energy and enthusiasm. Would recommend if your coming to your dropping in.

This was really interesting. The guide, Becky (i think her name was), was great! Very informative & friendly. Loved that it was a tour rather than lots of reading on walls (like another popular chocolate factory). We got to taste raw coco (Not pleasent, but good to give it a go), and we made our own chocolate lolly pops. Highly recommend this

Firstly yes you do get plenty of chocolate to taste on the tour. Apart from that, the history of Yorks chocolate is very interesting and the story is well told by their very knowledgeable guides. The only reason i gave this four stars is because there should be an adults only tour time. As unfortunately in our group we have a bunch of noisy children who would drown out the guide and the story he was telling. Keep in mind this tour is probably not the best for very small children as there is a lot of talking and not much for kids to play with.

It is pricy, yes. Is on the short side, indeed. But the museum side is done wonderfully, the guide is really good and you get to eat plenty of chocolate and learn about it's history in York. Also you decorate.and eat your own white chocolate lollipop. There are more beautiful things to see in York but if it rains why not pay a visit.

Loved the tour which was a great relief to the rainy and cold day outside in York. Stopped for a white hot chocolate and a cuppa whilst waiting for the tour which was delicious. The table set up could be better. The tour was great. Our guide was very engaging and funny. I loved the section where he interacted with the pictures. It was a great way to engage participants in the chocolate journey of York. All the taste testing was very interesting. Thanks :) Definitely worth a visit for anyone visiting York :)

I had heard mixed things about this but I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was informative, interactive and a bit out of the box. I came here with a friend and we really enjoyed it, there was the right amount of chocolate and the guide (Emma) was very good and enthusiastic. Definitely recommend to all ages.

The guide nick was really helpful, clear speaking and easy to understand. Great place for small children and older people . The chocolate they hand out is delicious and every room has been carefully constructed and put together for maximum safety and entertainment. The shop is a little expensive but overall this place is amazing!

To be honest we weren't particularly bothered about coming here at first as we live locally and always thinking it's just for tourists, but we are all glad that we decided to visit! It is an excellent guided tour that isn't boring at all. There are free samples and you get to make/decorate your own chocolate lolly :) It was very interesting about the origins of chocolate and York's influence to Chocolate. I had no idea about most of what they taught me. I'm not sure if it's particularly great for children due to the guided content but I definitely recommend adults who love chocolate to go!

This was much better than I was expecting. It was very informative and entertaining, plus you get to make chocolate lollies. Well worth a visit. The only issue is it is maybe slightly too expensive. £35 for 2 adults and 1 child is wee bit steep, especially when you consider the tour/experience only lasts about an hour.

We visited a few weeks back so I can't remember the tour guides name, however he was brilliant and very informative. Lots of interesting facts and chocolate to try throughout too, would probably allow an hour for the tour and there is set times so make sure you check. The cafe is nice and seemed fairly priced for what we had while we waited for our tour to begin.

Came here with my boyfriend who doesn't even like chocolate! But e both had an amazing time as the experience is unique in the tours they give. We spent over 3 hours from the tour to the gift shop and loved it. Worth the money, they even had students discount. Would recommend even if you don't like eating chocolate you can still enjoy the experience.

This was much better than I was expecting. It was very informative and entertaining, plus you get to make chocolate lollies. Well worth a visit. The only issue is it is maybe slightly too expensive. £40 for 2 adults and 1 child is wee bit steep, especially when you consider the tour/experience only lasts about an hour. One thing to remember, which we forgot, is that you get 25% off if you're a member of English Heritage. Could have saved myself a tenner. Doh!

Very good attraction. Interesting story and nice chocolates. The guide was really nice. Just a bit pricey and the lady in the till was quite rude trying not to apply the family price.
