Absolutely stunning and worthwhile going. The photography exhibition is very impressive. Except......! It is not cheap by any standards. Foreigners are paying through their noses and compared to other museums even to Eu prices this is expensive. Why foreigners must pay double than locals is nonsensical and bizarre. Only for that I rate this a 3 star.
I find the concept of a live artist making an homage to himself a bit strange but the reality is that it is beautifully done and a asset to the area. They've enlarged the gift shop and made the restaurant into more of a stand with goodies and empanadas. The work to restore the location was beautifully done and it is a lovely way to spend an hour with guests before enjoying the rest of barranco.
Like most museums in Lima it's shamelessly overpriced, but disregarding that it's a wonderful museum. Mario Testino's pictures are really interesting to look at, but the juxtaposition of these and the Katherine Bernhardt exhibition was really a stroke of genius: it has brought out the best aspects of both artists and together they made it a very rounded experience.
An exceptionally well curated museum in a charming old building. The gift shop is resplendent with unique, South American designer finds.
Wonderful museum displaying professional photographs by Mario Testino of notable celebrities, Andean fashion, and includes a section on Princess Diana. Housed in a beautifully restored mansion a few steps away from the Plaza de Armas in Barranco.
Small, but well worth it. Photo prints are gorgeous. Descriptions in Spanish and English
Small, but well worth the price of admission. Mario Testino’s work is cool and the temporary exhibits were lots of fun! Wish I could afford the things in their gift shop.
Loved it! My kids love it as well. The Alta Moda photos were amazing. Loved everything except the ladies at the gift shop WERE NOT friendly at all. They need to hire people with better customer service skills for the gift shop.
Wonderful place in a gorgeous house in Barranco. Loved the Alta moda and celebrity snaps by Mario Testino. Reasonably priced. The gift shop needs to be more accessible for local people as the items sold in the shop were very costly. Lady in the gift shop needs to improve her customer service skills though.
A wonderful showcase and testament to a brilliant photographer. For only 10 soles (5 on a Sunday), it was worth every penny. From celebrity shots, candid photography, historical images and the Princess Diana exhibit, the entire visit was fabulous. Changing temporary exhibits are definitely worth seeing also - a real treat. A must for any aspiring photographer or anyone wishing to see and appreciate the beauty of life through a lens.
