This was particularly underwhelming. If you are passing by its worth going to look inside.
Stunning church, so tranquil and peaceful. Filled with so much history and for under £5 you can climb up to the top of the Basilica (150+ steps) for the avid climber. Light candles, say a prayer and take in all that is beautifully symbolically catholic. Great place to reflect and take it all in!! Across from the Estrela is the Jardim Da Estrela park great for a stop off with the children with a swing park to the rear (children only toilets st the back) additional toilets at the front of the park upon entry to the right. Park has two cafes/food stops with beer happy hour as well as Gelado Ice Cream vans opposite the Bascilica. Lisbon Trams journey past constantly so a great trip you could see with the hop on hop off tour.
Just wonderful. What a spectacular church.
Beautiful church. Just a pity that cameras aren't allowed.
A jewel. Fantastic location. Don't miss the roof panorama!
Beautifully constructed church with attention to details and fine carvings.👌 Stopped by this area in the evening after a long days work and it was a pleasant view all along. The whole place is dotted with historic monuments and museums. Worth a visit as it will take a whole day to cover all the place. Well preserved and well maintained surroundings with artistic landscaping. Grateful to my friend Antonio to have shown me these magnificient monuments!👍
Go to the little office on the right hand side and buy tickets for the "terrace". €3 each. The little old lady will then unlock a door leading to a spiral staircase to the roof. Well worth a trip. Great views of the city.
This is the most beautiful church in Lisbon! You have to visit! After going to the rooftop you can use the Tram 28 in front of the church to see the city inside of the tram!
Nice church and view from top of the city is awesome. Cost euro 4 to get on the top. Inside church is free.
I am not a big fan of the baroque, but this church was truly fantastic. Both the marble work and painting stood out. You can also pay 3€ to climb to the terrace. The views were not spectacular, but it was still fun.
Such a beautiful church located very close to Bairro Alto. We walked there but decided to take the street car back after all the hills. The church itself is beautiful and we were able to catch the end of Sunday mass and light a candle. One tip to keep in mind is there in no bathroom there but one across the street in the park but bring your own toilet paper.
