Lisbon Zoo (Jardim Zoologico de Lisboa) is a zoological garden in Lisbon, Portugal. It was founded in 1884. The zoo was originally located in the park of São Sebastião da Pedreira. The zoo moved once in 1894 and once again in 1905 to it current location at Quinta das Laranjeiras, in Sete Rios.
About 2,000 animals of more than 300 species are represented:
The Lisbon zoo is by the largest zoo that I have been to in this part of Europe. It has a variety of animals and is quiet large. Having visited the zoo in winter I ask that in spring and summer it is much busier and the animals are more active. There are variety of birds, big cats such as tiger, lions, leopards, panther, wild cats, koala, monkeys, elephants, hippopotamus, rhinos, but no snakes. The dolphins show is held each day except for Tuesday's, not sure about weekends. Children of all ages and adults will enjoy the zoo.

21.50 Eur entrance fee, despite cable car and trains not working and most restaurants closed... (off season / February). however, still a very nice experience, most charming and impressive architecture surrounded by kind of a tropical parc. most animals appear quite relaxed and in good shape - and are definitely impressive to watch! if everything is working and you spend all day in there, the entrance fee might be justified. but not for a quick 2-3 stroll...

My 5yo son loves it. This is the second time we went there. They have a very decent number of big animals, including rare ones such as white tigers. And the dolphin show is also a highlight. But it's not cheap at all.

The Zoo is not the biggest, but it is one of the nicest. The animals are well kept and taken care of, and the whole environment is very appealing a warming. Definitely easy to enjoy the whole day and even get tired of walking. The dolphin show was the best, and of course even the sea lion feature was remarkable :)!

A must for all Lisbon people. Running since we were kids and even before, the animal conditions improved a lot in the last decades. Well cared animals. The dolphin show, the pelican meal and a lot of other animals to visit and things to do will take you from open to close time.

Amazing experience! I can't believe I could have so much fun being an adult at the Zoo. So much to see, so much to do!! Loads of animals to see, kids farm , a must see dolphin show. Good food variety available. Worth every penny. We took it as a part of bus tour ticket it actually works out even cheaper. Highly recommend to visit!

My favorite Zoo ever. Interesting and charming exhibits set in beautiful nature. Monkeys and primates where especially entertaining. The cable cart scared me at first but we ended up taking it three times. Dolphin show was impressive. The place was a pleasure in spring with everything in bloom! Def. worth the price..

If you love animals this is the place to visit. Huge animal variety. The zoo contributes to a major global project of conservation of endangered species and their habitat. What is cool about this zoo is the re-entry to the zoo with a valid stamp. And all the attractions and presentations are included in the entry price, except for the zoo train. I loved that!

One of the best zoos in Europe. Fantastic place with different types of animals. There is a open water pool and sometimes they organise dolphins and other marine animals show. This show is amazing and must seen. You need approximately 3-4 hour too see all parts and enjoy them.

It is the classic concept untouched, so although it treats animals as a prostitute in Amsterdam it is still a nice place to take kids to contact animals in the eye or simply to have your kids ice-cream stolen by a small daring monkey with a sense of humour. The scale of it is inderectly proportional to Lisbon, it is huge. Most shocking is the care given to the gardens and overall public spaces, it seems rather abandoned... Still my children must go!

Brilliant. Worth every moment. Amazing animals, incredible dolphin and bird show. There are enough food and ice cream stands to keep one cool and fed. The zoo is small enough so that you could walk it in an hour and a half, but we spent 6 hours there, and could probably spent even more time.

The zoo park is inspiring and a great feature of the tranquility of Lisbon at the heart of Lisbon. As time was limited be for my flight I did not manage to buy tickets to see inside the huge animals, but I saw the monkeys, parrots and several types of birds. The park is welcoming and provides a nice landscape with seats and accessible aminities.

Decent zoo to bring the kids in Lisbon. Nice range of animals including a dolphin show. Free gondola ride is a fun way to see the animals. Zoo feels like it needs updating.
