Even in the pouring rain we enjoyed walking along the walls. Saw bits of Chester I'd never seen before.

We've been to Chester a few times over the years but never actually stayed......so with this in mind we booked just before Xmas & one of the things we wanted to do was to walk the city walls......weather great cold but sunny & it was a great to learn more about this beautiful city by reading the information posted at various parts of the walk. Would advise anyone to do it

We stayed the night outside the city of Chester on our way to London from the Glasgow area. We were glad we did! The City Walls are old walls left over from when the Romans originally founded the city as a fortress. They go around most of the city and you get to walk along them! Walking around the city on the walls made for an enjoyable late-afternoon/early-evening walk with my wife. We were able to take nice pictures all around the city, especially at some of the highlights of the bridge, which include a giant clock and multiple archways. You can easily get up and down from the walls using stairs that are located at numerous points going around the city. I don't recall if there are ramps to get onto the walls. We noticed a few joggers/walkers making their rounds on the walls, which I think would be quite the nice run/jog.

Beautiful and full of history a lovely walk around the walls from the canal to the river and everything else in-between

Built to house England's oldest Roman garrison the walls surround the entire city, The remains of the 4 gateways into Chester are still standing, a walk along the walls brings the history of Roman Chester alive.

A lovely walk. Well sign posted and a great way to spend a sunny day. Not particularly taxing (though there are a few stairs). The part by the water is a highlight though the clock is probably the main historic point. The best activity (and free) in Chester.

A really old Roman construction still in good condition, a must visit. There are so many different Roman places in Chester. A great place to visit but you need at least 3 days to just see the basics. Recommend.
