Ljubljana Zoo (Slovene: Živalski vrt Ljubljana) is a 19.6-hectare (48-acre) zoo in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It serves as the national zoo of Slovenia and is open year-round. The zoo has 119 species and (not counting insects) a total of 500 animals.
Ljubljana Zoo was established on 10 March 1949 by the city board of Ljubljana. It was at first hosted in the Center District and moved to its current location in 1951.: 9
If you like hiking and zoology this is the place to be. In very simple terms It's a zoo attached to the side of hill. In reality it's an extraordinary attempt of using available space, and nature to build a series of habitats for the inhabitants. Highlights for me were the Squirrel monkey enclosure. Whist I visited in the winter the cheeky monkeys were inside but they do have access to the outside. The Tiger enclosure was spacious and viewing Windows were some of the best I've seen. Lastly there's a heard of cattle living a top of a steep climb. Negatives: the solitary bear looks depressed and there is a lonely wild 🐈 . Overall excellent value and fun day out.

Friendly staff. Some of the enclosures are recently renovated and good. Good information is available. The older enclosures are to small and sad. Children's playground are very good.

Very nice zoo. Very well maintained and even most important they take very good care of the animals...

Wonderful zoo with a lot of animals like giraffes, tigers, elephant and even small kangaroos! The show with the sea lions is amazing! A very nice place to visit on a sunny day in Ljubljana!

although I do not like when animals are not in their natural habitat... the ZOO is in woods and its nicely settled. Great play areas for kids!

Really nice little zoo. Big Range of animals. cheap tickets at €8 each for adults. Usually spend around 2 hours here.

There are some lovely animals and quite a lot to see. Sadly a section was closed, and the cheetah sprint was a little underwhelming. However, overall, for the money, it is a good day out and I would certainly go again.

Small to medium size zoo. Clean, well organized routes. Ideal for young children with lots of different activities for them. Access for strollers and people with disabilities. Inside petting zoo with smaller farm animals (goats, pigs). Possible to buy limited daily tickets for feeding some exotic animals. Small part of zoo is almost always under construction.

Very nice. You can see the animals from different directions and some of them have seats allow you to set down and watch. The whole are in a "forest" and let you feel relax.

The setting in the forest was lovely and we enjoyed the bicycle ride there. But the animal enclosures were small and looked overused.. It seemed an old fashioned type of zoo.

Nice arranged place. Lot of fun. Missing some more animals

It was more like a walk in nature than a zoo. We went on a wednesday and it was very nice and quiet. There were some surprising animals and even plants and trees.

Not comparing it to other ZOOs. We never hate to go there with kids. Having yearly pass if you have kids and live nearby is the best decision. Playgrounds are cool. I hate the paid ride section as it intrigues kids too much.

Very interesting zoo. Many animals have offsprings, what was funny. They incubator for small birds. Animals can stay in front of all public or hide in th house, If they are tired of attention. Nice show at 9.30 and 17 they have like circus there during feeding. thank you

The zoo is beautiful. We arrived at 10.45 on a Friday, it was not busy. The sea lion show (free) started at 11.00 and is definitely worth checking out. We spend around 2.5 hours in there. The zoo is cheap, €7 for students. It is definitely worth the money. The zoo itself is 5 stars. However, I am not giving a 5 star review because the food was really not good enough in our opinion. I think/hope it was a one time decrease in quality.

My entire family enjoys so much at this zoo. Animals all live nicely in their close-to-nature space. Very cleverly designed viewing space for visitors to observe the animals. World class amazing children playground. Restaurant serves good food and good service.

Great place for walking especially when is hot. Lots of trees. Everything is nice and clean. Animals are beautiful. Also nice place to bring children. Nice to visit.

A nice ZOO. Very friendly people and you can pay cash and with a card. You can get a free map of the ZOO and they give you a xedule with feeding times. We saw the sealion show and that was great. In my opinion is this a ZOO for everyone but you have a view animals where you have to climb a 19 or 20% but that's not a problem. A great ZOO for a morning visiting when it's not so hot outside
