The National Museum of Slovenia (Slovene: Narodni muzej Slovenije) is located in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is situated in the Center district of the city near Tivoli City Park. Along with the Slovenian Museum of Natural History, located in the same building, the National Museum of Slovenia is the country's oldest scientific and cultural institution. The museum has an extensive collection of archaeological artefacts, old coins and banknotes (in the numismatics department on the ground floor) and displays related to the applied arts.

Extremely varied and nicely organized. Natural history, archeology, geology... all separated and well organized! There are plenty of activities for children, with educative games. The exhibits have a significant interest for every age (you can even see the first musical instrument ever created - by the Neanderthals). One of the best small museums I've ever visited!
Beautiful historical building with many unique details, informative exhibitions, some a bit dated, but being renovated at the moment. Helpful staff and dog friendly. A great place to take your family for some quality time.
The national museum of Slovenia, it contains a lot of interesting exibits.
Displays an interesting replica of a flute-like musical instrument
Amazing exhibition. I have seen the one that presents instruments from the past. From early years (1000s of years ago) to the time of flourishing civilisations.
A great way to learn about the surrounding area. It starts from the Neolithic periods and goes to the modern times. They had a lot of information in English about the history of Slovenia. Though when it came to the animals and dinosaurs they had very little in English. Over all it was great and would recommend
Slovenian national and nature museum. Newer exibits are great but I think that stuffed animals are little passé .
Nice museum for a one hour visit. it's free the first Sunday of each month ;)
Great place, exhibitions interesting and clear to understand. I particularly enjoyed the women sliding down the stairs, charmingly!
The museum is getting better and better. However, it's a medley of museums and could be a bit overwhelming. But the key exhibitons are interesting and solid.
Thought the Slovenian history section on the second floor was very interesting. Not too big a museum so easy to cover. Is free the first Sunday of every month. Did have some interactive things for kids.
