It's something to do, but I can't honestly recommend it. Rather than run to timetable the staff seem to be content to just run a tram when they feel like it, and while the half way station has a wealth of information you won't read any of it because you're hustled from one tram to another. It has decent views of town, but as with the rest of the Great Orme, the architects seem to have gone all out to make it as ugly as possible.
Great experience at a reasonable price. The views are amazing and there is enough to do between the 2 stops to keep you entertained for hours. Food at the summit is good, honest food at a reasonable price too. I also recommend parking on York Road. £3.50 all day and only a short walk (it also takes cards)
Very nice experience. Enjoyed the fact it isn't a over the top tourist attraction. Couldn't believe how big the Orme is. The tramway staff were friendly, informative and professional. An amazing piece of engineering.
Went with family. Views are amazing both on the tram and once you reach the top. My daughter thought it was the best part of our trip. I would say it was good value for money although not cheap. Would recommend.
We could have driven up to the top or even walked but the novelty of riding a tram up a mountain was more thrilling. Lovely views of surrounding areas. There is a coffee shop at the top with a variety of refreshments and a lovely gift shop. We walked down to the valley towards the sea. Advisable to wear good walking shoes. Took the tram back to the town centre. Altogether enjoyable. Return ticket is only a fraction more than a single so it's best to buy a return ticket.
It was in high demand on May bank holiday weekend, despite a 10 minute service there was a constant queue of double the capacity, so a wait of around 20-30 minutes at either end (no wait at half way change over). It was fun to ride and the views justify the price, speaking of which £8.10 return for adults seemed a bit odd, either make it £8 or £8.50, makes little difference really.
Wonderful tram journey. The museum is nice as it shows off the workings of the tram, like the big cable for it. I highly recommend walking up the hill towards the sea and the town when you stop halfway, absolutely beautiful scenery. Highly recommend the tram altogether. Pricing is a bit weird, £6.50 for a single and £8.10 for a return. Makes it feel like it's pointless getting a single, so I wished the single to be cheaper so we could walk some of the way. Dogs allowed on board £1 each.
Fab place tram takes you back in time! Lovely trundle up the orme. Maintained beautifully. Then best fish and chips in Wales or for the adults pint in Kings watching world go by. My idea of heaven
Did this journey over 30 years ago and there has not been much change but I still enjoyed it. The staff were lovely. I would recommend for the experience and the wonderful views
Highlight of our day. Our little boy loved the little journey and the day we went the weather was good for us. The history of the tramway is very interesting too.The views you get on the way up are lovely. You have to change halfway up and swap to another tram to take you to the top, there was a nice little play area for the kids and there is a decent cafe/pub and gift shop,You get some lovely views if the weather is kind to you,Will be returning soon
It my be old fashioned but not is this the best way to travel up the great orme the sights you see and the excitement of traveling in an old timed way is just the best. Bit expensive for the travel up in the tram it's £8.10 for adults return and £5.60 for children return but boy is it worth it in the end. I have added some pictures of what you can see when traveling up and down.
One of those Must-Do rides in Wales, historic and on the top is a great place to spend half a day or so. Better by far on a warm dry day, no glass in the windows of the trams so if it rains, you know what happens . .
A fabulous route up to the top of the Great Orme where there is a restaurant and a children's play area whilst you can enjoy wonderful views of the North Wales coast.
Really good to be able to see the sights whilst being taken up the orme. Regular trams and good price. Bit of a queue tho
Spectacular views of such a great place, we love visiting here and this is such a quirky treat going up on this! Absolutely stunning sights as you travel up to the top, once up there you can see for miles! :)
Great experience , myself and my children enjoyed riding on the tram, we had a push chair which I thought might be difficult but they said it was no problem and helped to fold it and put it on too. Very lovely views and the ticket prices are nice and affordable and great customer service. Thank you
Great fun experience. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the history. Great views from the top (depending on the weather). Very reasonable prices. Shops and restaurant at the top.
