Avenue House (or Stephens House) is a large Victorian mansion (Grade II listed) situated on East End Road in Finchley in the London Borough of Barnet.
Built in 1859 on land formerly known as Temple Croft Field, it was acquired in 1874 by ink magnate and philanthropist Henry Charles Stephens ("Inky") who later enlarged and improved the house and grounds with advice from well-known landscape gardener Robert Marnock (1800–89).

I have used Stephens House on two occasions now, for funeral receptions for both parents. We hired The Drawing Room on both occasions; a stunning Victorian room with high ceilings and huge windows. Kate guided us through the process of how to arrange everything and was extremely helpful in meeting our exact requirements. The room is a beautiful setting for a reception of any kind and with the views of the park outside, it is a very special venue. On each occasion, the staff who were in attendance in the room were so polite, kind and helpful and ensured everything went smoothly. The food provided was of a very high standard and delicious. I cannot rate this venue highly enough and would recommend it to anyone wanting to hire a very special setting for any type of party or reception.

What a lovely discovery on a beautiful spring day. So glad I found this little hideaway. Great place to enjoy sun and contemplate life.

Love this park. We come here all the time. Gorgeous grounds, pond, playground, cafe, and the House itself. They put events on year round which are great fun for all the family. Highly recommend anyone to visit here.

A very exquisite yet underated place and experience in Finchley. The cafe is a refurbished stables with a very genuine feel to it. The park is not big but very beautiful and well organised and looked after.

Lovely park with a nice big open space. About 2 years ago they upgraded their Children's playground and increased the size of it and added brand new equipment. There are many podiums around the park with information about the species of insects&animals that can be found on the grounds.

Unfortunately both my visits have been for family funerals, but for these events the surroundings are suitable, and the catering side of things is good.

This place is the shizzle, Inky Stephens invented ink what? Yeah ink...Then donated his house to the people of Finchley. Tis my manor homie in it's glory and all. Recently got lottery funding for much needed tree restoration and garden work. Proper decent.

Just lovely. Great for children but also good for a stroll without children. Nice cafe. Interesting layout mixing open spaces with tree lined pathways.

Last week we went on a school trip to Avenue House park to have a picnic as the children has finished their SATS exams. The manager didn't allow the children to stay in the grounds as we hadn't rang them in advance. The grounds manager was very rude and abrupt saying it was private land. They were in a hurry to force us to leave. He and his colleague stood watch to make sure we left! The children then had a 20 walk along busy roads and a high street to get to Victoria park to eat there lunch. As a local parent I found the management's behaviour rude and hostile. A park is there for the community and children to enjoy surely! The attitude of the staff was terrible.

I attended a wedding here, but also had my baby shower here earlier in the year. Its a lovely venue, with great garden areas. Lovely in the summer

Very clean, pleasant and beautifully landscaped little park. I would give it five stars if it wasn't for the cafe which has the most uncomfortable tables with benches, which I avoid in winter. What a shame! As I would love to stop for coffee on my daily walks
