Old Woolwich or Woolwich Central Riverside is an area along the Thames in Woolwich, South East London. It is the oldest inhabited part of Woolwich, going back to an Anglo-Saxon riverside settlement. When the demographic centre of Woolwich shifted south in the 1800s, the area became a Victorian slum. Most of Old Woolwich was cleared in the 20th and early 21st centuries to make way for industrial, infrastructural and other large-scale developments. Although most of the earlier buildings have been demolished, the area has retained some interesting architecture, including the Georgian parish church, the Edwardian foot tunnel rotunda and two cinemas of the 1930s.
The area designated as Woolwich Central Riverside is situated along the south bank of the river Thames in Woolwich in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It is bounded to the north by the Thames and to the south by Woolwich Church Street, Woolwich High Street and Beresford Street (all part of the A206 road), although some historic alleys and yards on the south side of these streets are included in this survey. To the west it is bounded by Woolwich Dockyard, and to the east by the Royal Arsenal. Old Woolwich is located north of the present-day commercial heart of Woolwich, which is centred around Beresford Square and Powis Street.

The call you make to them is very important to them. So important that they tell you to call back later rather than answering the phone. Two days I've been calling to try and book a children's birthday party. Like all "Better" facilities they treat customers with total contempt, they are an embarrassment.

My son has been taking swimming lessons every Saturday for nearly a year, and I am very impressed. The teachers are strict, but extremely brilliant. My son's teacher is fantastic. The prices are very reasonable too. I well recommend the swimming lessons.

Awful awful awful place!! Avoid taking your children there is possible. We arrived about 12pm greeted by a lovely man at the front desk who kindly advised us we should get some food first them come back as the girls would only have a hour. Which we did. We came back for the second session which started at 2pm. The girls were so excited after waiting for so long. We were then told they would need to do a swim test although they were all 8 and over and can swim. The water was so shallow it would probably reach my knees at best! The life guards took the girls over to the learning pools which is a lot deeper that what they would be swimming in and asked them to swim 25m. The youngest who’s 8 is defienely too short and was scared so she didn’t want to get into that pool. After about half hour they had finished the test 2 of them didn’t do it. They carried on to play in the shallow family pool until the rudest me ever of staff for them all out. He even proceed to tell me I can sit down although heavily pregnant I should stand by the changing rooms even though there was a seat that I could use. I decided the bad service, rudeness and incompetence wasn’t worth it and took them out demanding a refund!! Ruined my daughters 10th birthday, luckily we went back to my local swimming pool where they got to enjoy sometime swimming. We will stick to that one in future. The flumes in waterfront aren’t even worth it. Please do not wasted your money or time! Only helpful people were Mel and the black guy on front dest the rest of them should be sacked!!

I went there today for the first time with My Kids. I payed with card and We went in. Then i notice that you have To put 20p to the locker to get it locked. I didn't had any Cash with me, so i went back to reception desk to ask if i could borrow 20p for the locker. This woman worker answered to me that "Surely you realice that I can't borrow you 20p."Then i said that I am here for the first time and could you tell me where i could put My things? Answer from her was:" Its not My problem." i couldn't believe my ears. i asked her very kindly and she had no reason to be so rude. Today you lost one potential customer and only because 20p.

I visited Waterfront Leisure Centre Woolwich first time 27 June this year for aerobic class. I am very impressed with size of building, facility , swimming pool but not very good maintain, poore air conditioning, not very clean and it needs some refurbishment . The reception were unorganized, big que .The overall would be ensuring that the clients recieved the best service whilst using a well maintained leisure centre. The aerobic class was great with good music. The fitness instructor Kasia Wojcik was very friendly and energetic. She is good example of fitness trainer , when look at her wants to be in the same shape and with the same muscles. I will definitely book aerobic class with her again and thinking of taking her as a personal trainer.
