St Alfege Church is an Anglican church in the centre of Greenwich, part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich in London. It is of medieval origin and was rebuilt in 1712–1714 to the designs of Nicholas Hawksmoor.
The church is dedicated to Alfege (also spelt "Alphege"), Archbishop of Canterbury, and reputedly marks the place where he was martyred on 19 April 1012, having been taken prisoner during the sack of Canterbury by Danish raiders the previous year. The Danes took him to their camp at Greenwich and killed him when the large ransom they demanded was not forthcoming.

Just completed our second course with Julia so that's around 75 wines she has introduced us to. They have all been enjoyable, in great condition and each wine has been introduced and explored with a high level of detail and expertise by Julia. We thought we knew a reasonable amount about world wines but Julia has shown us some cracking new grapes, regions and makers to explore. Add to that the fun environment and the way the company comes alive as the evening progresses and you will see why we both recommend and will return again to the South London Wine School.

I highly recommend this course. I attended the 8 week introduction to wine, which is a great course to expand your knowledge. Mahima was a great tutor, very knowledgeable and delivered the classes with good humour too. I will definitely be trying out more courses soon!

Fantastic value for money. The teacher had excellent knowledge, the wine was great (and plentiful!), and I leant a lot.

We had a fantastic time! Julia knew exactly what she was talking about and she led our group expertly through the wine, introducing us to quite a few wines we never would have tried (and enjoyed!) previously! Highly highly recommend the South London Wine School!

Informative, approachable and enjoyable! Plenty of delicious wine and snacks to go around, good banter with fellow attendees, and easy-to-understand insights on wine from around the world. Definitely worth a try if you live or work in south London and love wine!
